Forbes High School delivers 'education for a better qualityof life', through innovation, enabling young people to leadextraordinary lives.
Forbes High School is a rural 7–12 coeducationalcomprehensive high school that caters for a diversedemographic of 333 students which is situated on thebanks of the Lachlan River. 31% of our students identify asAboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. We have 4Support classes accessed by 29 students.
We promote Positive Behaviour for Learning and have corevalues of Respect, Responsibility, Doing Our Best andHonesty which are reflected across all aspects of schoollife. We have a Wellness Hub on site that underpins andsupports positive student wellbeing. We actively identify asa White Ribbon school and have both staff and studentsact as ambassadors.
We adopt a holistic approach to student achievement andstudents have the opportunity to succeed in sporting,cultural, creative and performing arts. We maintain a broadand rigorous academic curriculum and offer an extensiverange of vocational courses. Our students are taught bydynamic, motivated and committed staff in a technologyrich environment.
Strong community partnerships have been formed andthese provide invaluable support to the school across manycontexts including student well–being programs, vocationalopportunities and shared resources.
The school planning process involved the development ofthe school plan by staff, students and parents. Thisextensive consultation and collaboration process identifiedthree strategic directions for the school community to worktowards achieving over the three year period from 2018 to2020.
Later, a sub–committee was established to refine theagenda for improvement and cross–referenced studentneeds, evidence and identified strategies to enableimplementation for continuous improvement.
On 4 July 2019 our school was externally validated and thisinfluenced a significant change in the school plan.
The implementation of the school plan is the responsibilityof all staff. The accountability, monitoring and evaluation ofthe plan will be led by the school's internal validation team.All staff are responsible to collect evidence to evaluateschool progress.
