Our school Peace Pole-
A community partnership with Forbes Rotary Ipomoea.
On Friday 30th April some of our students took part in the installation of our school Peace Pole.
The Peace Pole can be seen in the garden near the entry ramp to the school office.
To mark the Centenary of Rotary in Australia, the Rotary Club of Canberra Burley Griffin, ACT set a goal to see planted 100 Peace Poles for 100 years of Rotary service in Australia.
Our school is now part of this Peace project.
The Peace Pole program which had its beginnings after the Second World War in 1955, was developed by World Peace Prayer Society Founder, Masahisa Goi. Now, more than 250,000 Peace Poles stand in approximately 200 countries around the globe, symbolizing the common wish for a world at peace.
Our Peace Pole is marked with the message “May Peace Prevail on Earth” in four languages, standing in silent vigil for peace and acting as a reminder for all to think and act in the spirit of peace.

SCHOOL RULES I can do my best. I can respect all
people. I can respect all
property. I can be in the
right place. ROTARY PEACE POLE
Learning for Life through Quality Teaching in a Safe and Caring Environment
The languages we chose for our message of peace are Wiradjuri, English, Pilipino and French.
If there is to be peace in the world, there must be peace between nations.
If there is to be peace between nations, there must be peace in the cities.
If there is to be peace in the cities, there must be peace between
neighbours.
If there is to be peace between neighbours, there must be peace in the home.
If there is to be peace in the home, there must be peace in the heart.
Thank you to our student representatives and the members of Forbes Rotary Ipomoea for taking part in this important project.
FROM THE PRINCIPAL…
You would no doubt be aware that during the Christmas vacation period our senior school playground area next to C Block was resurfaced, replacing the ugly, cracked and uneven asphalt with smooth, level astro-turf. The area has also been marked for netball, basketball, volleyball and handball, and even has a 3-lane sprint track for our runners to practice on. Plans to have this area resurfaced have been ‘in the pipeline’ for over 10 years, and it is wonderful to see this finally completed.
Last Thursday was a real ‘red letter’ day when we were able to play a NSW PSSA State Knockout match right here at Forbes North, making full use of our wonderful new court. Our netballers certainly appreciated the ‘home court’ advantage, christening the court with a resounding victory over cross-town rivals Forbes Public 16 goals to one!!!
Have a great week! Steve McAlister Principal

Operation Art Don't forget about Operation Art!! Operation art is an initiative of The Children's Hospital at Westmead in collaboration with the Department of Education and Communities, involves school students—from Kindergarten to Year 10 in all NSW schools—in creating artworks for children in hospital. This initiative is running again this year, and students have the opportunity to enter a piece of art (drawing, painting or collage) into the competition to represent our school. The size of the artwork needs to be at least A4 size (standard piece of paper) and the maximum size is A2 (42cm x 60cm). Please do not laminate the work or have the work too thick as it will not then be able to be entered. This artwork is to be completed at home by the student (work must be completed by the child) and needs to be returned to the school office before Friday 21st May. If you have any questions about this please contact Mrs O'Brien on 6852 2187. Lost + Found A Pandora charm bracelet has been handed in at the school office.
Please contact us to identify and claim this.
Class lessons this week will focus on students going through the rules and
expectations for eating time during our breaks. Our celebration tallies have been updated.
