Transfer of Copyright for Publication of Expanded Abstract

For and in consideration of the potential publication of the expanded abstract ("the Work") submitted, I, the submitter of the Work, as Author or for and on behalf of all authors and/or owners of copyright in the Work ("Authors"), hereby agree to transfer, assign, and convey all right, title, interest, and copyright in the Work and the right to publish the Work in online (including wirelessly conveyed), removable media, and/or printed form to the Society of Exploration Geophysicists ("SEG") and the Chinese Petroleum Society (“CPS”), effective if and when the Work is accepted for presentation at the CPS/SEG 2018 International Geophysical Conference and related publication (24- 27 April 2018, Beijing, China), subject only to limitations expressed in this Transfer of Copyright. I warrant and represent that I am empowered and authorized to represent Authors with respect to this Transfer of Copyright if this group includes others besides me. Authors warrant that they are empowered to convey the publication right described above to SEG and CPS and that the Work does not infringe any copyright or invade any right of privacy or publicity. Authors further warrant that they have secured permission for the use of all materials from a copyrighted source and all illustrations and photographs used in the Work. Authors agree to indemnify, defend, and hold SEG and CPS, its directors, officers, employees, and agents harmless against any claims to the contrary. Authors understand and agree that SEG and CPS may, at any time, republish in any form the whole Work or parts thereof in any future SEG and CPS publications or compilations, at the discretion of SEG and CPS. Authors convey to SEG and CPS nonexclusive right to license distribution or republication of all or any portion of the Work to third parties. Authors retain all other rights. Authors confirm that the Work has not been published previously, nor is it under consideration by any other publisher. Authors warrant that they have complied and will comply with Ethical Guidelines for SEG and CPS Publications and that they agree to the provisions of these guidelines. This Transfer of Copyright shall be binding on Authors' heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns.In the event Authors cannot transfer copyright in the Work to SEG and CPS because ALL authors were U.S. government employees at the time the Work was prepared, or if they cannot do so for some other reason, Authors must submit an explanation to the SEG Technical Program Planner in writing by 31 December 2018, identifying the paper by title and authors. If this explanation is received by 31 December 2018, SEG and CPS will not consider submission of the metadata associated with the Authors' expanded abstract as evidence of Authors' agreement to the terms of this Transfer of Copyright.

Authors' royalty-free rightsAuthors of Works published in conjunction with the CPS/SEG 2018 International Geophysical Conference, and in the case of a Work Made for Hire their employer(s), shall retain the following royalty-free rights:1. All proprietary rights in the Work that were not transferred to SEG and CPS in the Transfer of Copyright, including the right to any patentable subject matter that might be contained in the Work2. The right to make oral presentation of the Work with full citation and proper copyright acknowledgment3. The right to prepare and hold copyright in derivative publications based on the Work provided that the derivative work is published subsequent to the official date of the original paper's publication by SEG and CPS4. The right to post a final accepted version of the manuscript or the final SEG-formatted version and CPS-formatted version on authors' personal Web sites, employers' Web sites, or in institutional repositories operated and controlled exclusively by authors' employers provided that (a) the SEG-published and CPS-published version is presented without modification; (b) copyright notice and a full citation appear with the paper; (c) a link to the SEG and CPS version of record in the SEG Digital Library using Digital Object Identifier (DOI) permalinks is provided; (d) the posting is noncommercial in nature, and the paper is made available to users without charge; (e) that notice is provided that use is subject to SEG and CPS terms of use and conditions; and (f) that a posting of the Work in an institutional repository neither carries nor is implied as carrying a license contrary to SEG and CPS copyright and terms of use5. The right to post to their own Web sites a preprint (a version prior to SEG's and CPS’s accepted and published version) of the Work provided that the posting is accompanied by prominent notice that the Work is under review for publication as an expanded abstract by SEG and CPS and that upon publication by SEG and CPS, the preprint is taken offline and replaced with either (a) a full citation to the SEG-published and CPS-published work with a DOI permalink to the paper's abstract, (b) SEG's and CPS’s final published version subject to SEG and CPS conditions for such posting, or (c) a modification of the Work with notification stating the work is a modification of the SEG and CPS version, also subject to SEG and CPS conditions for such posting; and that if the Work isrejected for publication by SEG and CPS, notice of its under-review status be removed6. The right to reuse all or part of the Work in a thesis or dissertation that the Author writes and is required to submit to satisfy criteria of degree-granting institutions7. The nonexclusive right, after publication by SEG and CPS, to give permission to third parties to republish print versions of the paper, or excerpts therefrom, without obtaining permission from SEG, provided that (a) the SEG-published and CPS-published version is not used for this purpose; (b) the paper is not republished in a journal, book, or collection of conference abstracts or proceedings; and (c) the third party does not charge a fee. Permission must be obtained from SEG and CPS for other republication of the paper.
