Meet Our 2018 Summer Programming Team...

Megan Fairchild is currently enrolled in her first year at SWCC and is majoring in Nursing and minoring in Physical Therapy. In her free time, Megan loves to golf, spend time with her Boxer dog, Ella, work with the goats on her family farm, and hang out with friends and family. Megan also enjoys spending time outside hunting and fishing. She has great experience with youth, including working at a daycare in Stuart, being a nanny, and helping with Vacation Bible School. She also did a work experience in high school at the local care center working with older adults. Megan is excited to work with youth and get them involved in all the wonderful things Extension has to offer!

Sami (Samantha) Harris is currently enrolled in her first year at Northwest Missouri State. She is pursuing a major in Elementary Education and Physical Education. Sami loves to stay active by going to the gym, lifting weights, and riding her bike. She enjoys baking anything from sweet treats to healthy recipes. Sami has always relished working with youth. She enjoys spending time volunteering in the middle school, high school, and assisting with her mom’s first grade classroom. She is currently working at the preschool on the NWMS campus. She’s looking forward to becoming a teacher and making a positive impact on the lives of youth. Sami is excited to spend her summer building positive relationships with the youth participating in summer camps!

The 16 members of the Adair County 4-H Youth Council will be volunteering their time to assist with each summer day camp. Youth Council members will be volunteering more than 500 hours to mentor youth.

How to Register for Summer Youth Day Camps

1. Please carefully read each camp’s complete description in this program booklet. Each description provides specific information on topic, time, location, age requirements, and cost for each camp.

2. Grade levels indicated on each camp’s description are designated for the grade the student will be entering Fall of 2018.

3. Visit with your child; pick out the experience(s) that suit their interests and your family ’s schedule. There are several new camp offerings this year.

4. If the cost of a day camp opportunity is a barrier to your child’s participation, need-based scholarships are available. The scholarship form is provided on page 17 of this booklet. The names of scholarship recipients are kept strictly confidential. No one except the program administrator and office manager will have access to the information. Contact Danielle Morgan, Youth Development Coordinator, for information regarding need-based scholarship opportunities. Payment must accompany completed forms in order to secure a youth’s registration.

5. In order to reserve your child’s place at an available day camp, a completed registration form and medical release form, along with payment must be provided to Adair County ISU Extension. Scholarship and Special Permission forms must also be turned in at this time if needed.

6. If your child needs to take medication during a day camp, the youth’s parent or guardian will need to complete a Request for Giving Medication form. All forms must have a parent/guardian ’s signature. Return completed forms, with payment, to the Adair County ISU Extension office at 154 Public Square, Suite C, Greenfield, IA 50849.

7. Each day camp opportunity has a minimum and maximum capacity. Therefore, enrollment is limited and subject to those guidelines. Each camp registration will be accepted until maximum capacity has been reached or within one week prior to the day camp’s start date, whichever comes first.

8. Mark your calendar with the camp(s) dates and times in which your child is registered. It is ultimately the parent/guardian’s responsibility to be sure a youth arrives to and is picked up timely from each camp in which they are registered. No refunds will be provided if a youth misses a day camp simply due to oversight. If there is an emergency and/or important reason for a youth’s absence from a camp, a parent/guardian must contact Danielle Morgan (641-743-8412) with the explanation to determine if a refund is warranted.

9. A reminder can be provided approximately one week prior to the camp date. A parent/guardian may select to receive a reminder via e-mail, text message, and/or mail. Please be sure to indicate if you would like to receive a reminder on the camp registration form.

10. LUNCH INFO: Campers need to bring their own lunch to all full day camps, unless it is otherwise designated in the camp description. Water will be provided at each camp.

When packing a sack lunch, we encourage a protein source (i.e. meat, cheese, or peanut butter sandwich), a grain, fresh fruit(s) and veggies.

Snacks will be provided during the day so please limit high sugar desserts and/or candy type items.

For any further questions, please contact Danielle Morgan, Adair County ISU Extension, at 641-743-8412 or [email protected]. We look forward to seeing your child at this year’s summer camps!
