Monument of the African Renaissance, stands

atop a hill outside Dakar. The tallest statue

anniversary of Senegal’s independence

Spain’s Canary Islands overflow with exotic

flora spilling down mountainsides to former

fishing villages. The volcanic Mt. Teide,

Spain’s highest point, watches over much of
