Pelvic Health

Introduction to Pelvic Health

Presenter: Jesse Griffin Rapp PT, DPT, COMT, OCSJesse has worked with the pelvic health population over the last 6 years. She never expected to be a part of this specialty but ever since she took her first class on the top-ic she loved it! She is amazed how often her patients tell her that they didn’t know physical therapy was an option for them. She is excited to be sharing the basic anatomy of the pelvic floor, common pelvic health conditions and treatment options for those in the outpatient setting to better recognize and treat this pop-ulation. She is committed to creat-ing more access for these patients through education to others so more of these patients can receive excellent care

Course Description: This course is an entry level course into Pelvic Health. We will discuss the anato-my of the pelvic floor muscles as well as the common diagnoses. We will cover different treatment path-ways through manual work, educa-tion and exercises. This course will include both lecture and external based palpation labs.

Orthopedics and Pelvic Health

Presenter: Joe Black, PT, DPT, SCS, ATCThis course is an entry level course into Pelvic Health. We will discuss the anatomy of the pelvic floor mus-cles as well as the common diag-noses. We will cover different treat-ment pathways through manual work, education and exercises. This course will include both lecture and external based palpation labs.

Course Description: A wide variety of musculoskeletal issues are im-pacted by the pelvis, something few physical therapists understand. This course will provide a basis for un-derstanding this relationship. Clinics that provide Pelvic Health services are too often seen as “women’s health” clinics or at least clinics that treat only those with genito-urinary problems. Pelvic Health isn’t just for incontinence and post-partum issues. The Pelvic Health clinicians actually have much to offer in the treatment of a broad range of mus-culoskeletal dysfunctions. Con-versely, most Orthopedics/Sports clinicians have no idea what bene-fits could be derived from collabo-ration with Pelvic Health clinicians. This presentation will address how these two specialty areas could find such cooperation and collaboration of great benefit to their patients.
