Danish IVET• Based on the dual training principle: Alternation between school-based education and work place training.

• Qualifies students for labour market entry as skilled workers.

• Admission requirement: Completion of compulsory education.

• 12 basic courses, 109 programmes (Technical, Business, Social and Health care), more than 300 steps.

• Duration: 2 to 5 years – the most typical being 3.5 to 4 years.

Work place training•A contract with a company is required. •It is the trainee’s responsibility to find a training place.

•The company has the overall responsibility for learning.

•2/3 of the main course is work place training.

•Trainees receive wages determined by collective labour market agreement.

•During the school periods the company receives compensation from the Employers’ Reimbursement Scheme, financed by contributions from all employers.

•Outcome of the dual system: - A high employment rate for the trainees after completion of VET. - Low level of youth unemployment compared to other countries.
