Prayer to St. Nicholas 0 good Father, St. Nicholas, great and wonderful

Wonderworker! By your prayers, you cured every sickness and

pain and delivered from death. I sincerely implore you, who

are quick to come to the aid of those who are in sorrow and in

the temporal needs of this life, hasten to me with your help.

Protect all from fire and flood, hunger and plague, from

serious illness, and sudden death. Protect me throughout my

life, especially in the hour of my departure from this temporal

world into eternity. Defend me with the shield of your prayers

before the just judge, our Lord Jesus Christ, and help me to

be worthy to glorify and praise God’s mercy, together with

you, forever in heaven. Amen.

Zenon Czornij

Zenon Czornij was born in 1961 in Detroit. He is the third child of Maria and Semon Czornij. He attended Immaculate Conception Schools in Hamtramck, being active as altar boy, and later President of the Lectors’ Society. Afterwards, he earned his undergraduate degree at Wayne State University and

completed his graduate degree in Chemistry at the University of Detroit. Employed at BASF since 1984, Zenon has held various positions there, including polymer synthesis, pigment qualification, dispersion development, and process engineering. Most recently, he is the Head of Automotive Color Design for both North and South America, and is listed as inventor on 18 issued or pending patents in the area of polymer chemistry and color science. Zenon answered God’s call and entered into training for the diaconate in 2008, when he began studies in the Diocese of Lansing’s diaconal formation program. He was enrolled in the theology curriculum at Siena Heights University in Lansing and was accepted in 2011 to the Aspirancy Program to the diaconate. He attained his Masters of Arts in Theology from Holy Apostles College and Seminary in Connecticut, with a concentration in Dogmatic Theology. Zenon has been graced by the Holy Spirit to have received six of the Holy Mysteries at Immaculate Conception Church in Hamtramck. Zenon remains active in the Ukrainian community in the Metro Detroit area. He is Secretary on the Executive Board of the Immaculate Conception Parish Council, sings in the church choir, and a catechist. He is also Treasurer for the Shevchenko Scientific Society, member of Aid to Seminarians, Supervisory Committee of the Ukrainian Selfreliance (Samopomich) CU, and member of the Ukrainian Philatelic and Numismatic Society. Whenever possible, he supports the God’s Kitchen Soup Kitchen at St. Joseph’s Parish in Howell. He resides in the Brighton area with his loving wife of 28 years, Sheila, and their wiener dog, Aza.

Br. Andrew (Andrey) Kornelyuk

Andrew (Andrey) Kornelyuk, born on July 16, 1990 in L’viv, Ukraine, son of Yaroslav and Yaroslava Kornelyuk, and the brother of his younger sister, Maria. Parents migrated to the United States in 1992, first to the state of New Hampshire, and then in 1997, decided to move to Michigan. First, lived in

Hamtramck, Michigan and then moved to Warren, Michigan, where he completed his high school education at Center Line High School, class of 2008. Afterwards, studied at Macomb Community College for about three years, deciding on a career, since he imagined he would one day become a married priest with a career. God had different, better plans for him. Growing up near our Basilian parish of St. Josaphat, he felt a calling to the priesthood. Upon visiting St. Josaphat’s Monastery in October of 2011, in Glen Cove, Long Island, New York, he discovered that he also has a calling to the Religious life in the Religious Order of St. Basil the Great, was accepted to the Basilian Order by Fr. Provincial Philip Sandrick, OSBM, went through the Novitiate program in Glen Cove under the care of Novice Master, Fr. Leo Goldade, OSBM, and was then sent to our Basilian Seminary in Ukraine for the Philosophy program. Completed a Bachelor’s degree in Theology at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas, “the Angelicum.” Made Solemn Profession of Final Vows by Fr. Provincial Basil Salkovski, OSBM on November 12, 2018, on the Feast Day of St. Josaphat, in Glen Cove, New York. Now, Brother Andrew looks forward to the Diaconate Ordination and humbly asks you all for your prayers, so that he may reverently serve God and His people.
