Fr. Kevin’s Spirit-Seeker Seminar: Sunday October 19 “How to Resolve Problems in prayer and meditation”
Location: St. Lucy Parish Activity Center, Time: 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm
Do you have distractions during your prayer and meditation? Do you have doubts that you are meditating correct-ly? This particular seminar is designed for those who either practice meditation or who have discontinued the practice and who would like to get started again. (On Nov. 9 a new Spirit Seeker series will begin.)
RESPECT LIFE The National Vietnam Memorial in Washington, D.C. is a shiny black wall that stretches 492 feet and lists the names of 58,022 known Americans killed in that war. If such a wall listed the names of the children killed by abortion since 1973, the wall would be about 60 miles long! The casualties of our wars put together are fewer than the casualties from abortion in a single year. PREGNANT? NEED HELP? We have a special con-cern for you and your unborn child. For any help with a troubled pregnancy, please call the St. Lucy Pro-Life Ministry at 408-866-8945.
Drought Awareness
“To build a world of peace and justice where each person can live with dignity. . .can be achieved if a world model of authentic solidarity prevails which assures to all inhabitants of the planet food, water, necessary medical treat-ment, and also work and energy resources, as well as cultural benefits, scientific, and technological knowledge.” (Pope Benedict, Angelus, 11/11/2007)
During this time of continued severe drought, we at St. Lucy are doing our part to reduce water usage, so you may notice our lawns are less green and drier than usual as we enter our third month of cutting back watering frequency. We continue to research ways to reduce our use of natural resources in order to be a positive im-pact on our larger community. There are many ways we can all do our part to care for creation, and thereby each other. We encourage you to research and try practices that most effectively cut water and energy con-sumption in your own life. Here are a couple tips: Consume fewer material goods: Did you know it takes about 2,900 gallons of water to produce one pair of blue jeans? So wear those old jeans with pride, either patched or torn! (www.valleywater.org) Consume fewer animal products: Did you know it takes between 1,800 – 2,500 gallons of water to pro-duce just one pound of beef? Eliminating meat from your meals just one day a week helps save water. Join millions of people around the country for “meatless Mondays” (or, do your own Catholic version and make it meatless Fridays). (www.meatlessmonday.com)
St. Lucy Parish welcomes these newly baptized children. River France Libiran Canete, Emily Ariana Barboza, Jayden Ramces Hernandez Morales,
Camila Perez Lozano, Adalayt Rosa Ramirez Guadarrama, Ashley Giselle Ramirez Guadarrama, Yalitza Ramirez Suarez, Jonathan Raymundo Gutierrez, Anthony Leonardo Sanchez Rojas,

River France Libiran Canete, Emily Ariana Barboza, Jayden Ramces Hernandez Morales,
Camila Perez Lozano, Adalayt Rosa Ramirez Guadarrama, Ashley Giselle Ramirez Guadarrama, Yalitza Ramirez Suarez, Jonathan Raymundo Gutierrez, Anthony Leonardo Sanchez Rojas,
Dylan Fernando Sanchez Rojas, Juniper Marie Duffy
