Comfort Plus Mattress

The Comfort Plus Mattress features a unique contour foam that is designed for pressure relief but also maximizes comfort for residents up to 400 lbs. The mattress is comprised of two bonded three inch layers with the upper layer consisting of soft pliable contour foam and the bottom layer, a high density foam capable of isolating either a hard pan or inner spring mattress interface. All of the foam surfaces meet Cal 117 flammability rating and the system meets 16 CFR 1633. The following covers are available: • Low Shear II, an incontinent proof two-way stretch, polyurethane coated over a polyester knit fabric. This cover enhances comfort, minimizes shear forces and easily wipes clean. This cover is guaranteed for two years. • Nylon, a durable incontinent proof cover. This cover is guaranteed for 5 years. • Five-year, non-prorated replacement guarantee on foam components Both covers are treated with anti-bacterial agents and meet Cal 117 flammability requirements. The bottom surface of either cover is coated with a nonskid fabric to stabilize the mattress on the bed frame. Either cover is provided at the same cost and when ordering please specify the cover of your choice. Add the letter “L” to the model numbers for Low Shear II cover or the letter “N” for nylon covers.

Did you know Skil-Care’s line of bariatric mattresses have been in production for over 6+ years and continues to exceed everyone’s expectations!

A recently conducted weight test was performed to demonstrate the quality of foam which Skil-Care utilizes. Our bariatric mattress consists of two 3 inch layers of virgin polyurethane foam. The bottom 3 inches is a high density supportive-base-foam and the top 3 inches consists of 500+ support-cubes which flex and recoil a full 360 degrees. The test consisted of placing 900lbs. on the surface of our queen size (60”W x 80”L x 6”T) bariatric mattress. The weighted mattress test was left untouched for 6 months to see how the mattress compressed and restored.(Note: pressure and weight held in place without relief causes more damage than allowing the foam to periodically rest and relieve itself.)

After 6 months the weight was removed and the foam was measured for any permanent compression and/or deformation damage.The impressive results are as follows: • There was no permanent foam deformation damage • The foam immediately returned to its original heightAll Skil-Care mattresses follow these strict standards of quality.

Psych MattressThe Psychiatric Mattress is structurally the same as the Pressure-CheckTM Mattress and offers all the advantages of the individual foam pads that provide superior comfort and pressure distribution and reduction. The available cover materials are high strength vinyl or nylon and for security purposes the cover is completely sewn with no openings. For added security, a new model is now available where a foam, wedged pillow is inside the secure cover. There is a 5 year non-prorated guarantee on the mattress.

All Skil-Care mattresses meet the new mandatory fire code 16 CFR 1633.All mattresses sold in the United States must conform to this standard.

When choosing a mattress, the caregiver should consider weight distribution attributes, prevention of shearing forces, durability, comfort and stability. Skil-CareTM offers a line of mattresses that are designed to minimize “roll-off”, prevent pressure sores by maximizing weight distribution, and lower shearing forces.
