If you have a concern or need to speak to a teacher, please contact your child’s class teacher first via a phone call- 43691246 or email to the school- [email protected]. The class teacher will return your call or email ASAP. Should you need to contact an Executive after talking to the class teacher, please follow the same protocol of teacher then Executive for child’s grade. Assistant Principals Kindergarten - Mrs Karen Duruz Year One and Two - Mrs Allyson Carey Years Three and Four - Ms Leanne Howarth (M, T, TH, F) and Mrs Mitzi Self (W) Years Five and Six - Miss Janelle Chapman Principal Miss Annette Parrey CONSTRUCTION UPDATE Work continues on the security fence, the disabled toilet, parking spot and lift. Updates will continue as work progresses throughout the term.

PARKING Parking is at a premium in Shaw St as staff do not have access to the carpark. Please do not enter the Shaw St car park at anytime, as parking is for staff and emergency services only.

ENTRY TO SCHOOL GROUNDS Once the security fence is completed, which is anticipated this week or next, there will be access to Before and After School Care only via Brisbania Close pedestrian gates. These gates will be opened and locked by Before and After School Care staff each morning and evening. The High St gates will be locked and only accessible via security access following the start of school and the end of bus duty each day. Shaw St will be accessed via security as well. As more details of completion are gained, you will be advised.

BRISBANIA PUBLIC SCHOOL UPGRADES Over the holidays, 10 new boards were installed in D, E, F and I blocks as our old interactive whiteboards had seen better days. F Block was painted. The playground equipment was painted and the staffroom doors were painted.

P&C The first meeting of the P&C for 2020 is tomorrow 4 February 7pm in the staffroom. All welcome.

BUSH FIRE SEASON and BRISBANIA PS The bushfire season runs from 1 October to 31 March each year. As such, it is timely to remind the community that Brisbania PS is in a bush fire prone area and is placed on the Bush Fire Register of the Department of Education (DoE).

Should a catastrophic fire danger rating be issued, it is a DoE directive that the school be closed until the rating is lifted. Please be aware that the school will advise of closure via social media and the radio after 4:30pm the previous day. Staff would be required to report to the closest open school, while students are under parental supervision at home.

HEALTH AND SAFETY RESTRICTIONS- PERMISSION TO APPLY TOPICAL PRODUCTS With updated Health and Safety restrictions, we now require permission to apply topical products to your child. These include RID, Stingose, Dettol and Savlon should your child need mosquito or ant treatment or a clean up after a fall. If you do not want staff to apply these topical products, please put your request in writing and return to the office ASAP or by Friday, 8 February. If we do not hear from you, we will assume that permission is given.

PARENT INFORMATION SESSIONS Kindergarten - Wednesday 12 February at 5:00-5:45pm Stage One - Wednesday 12 February at 5:50 to 6:30pm Stage Two - Tuesday 11 February from 4:45 to 5:30pm and Stage Three - Tuesday 11 February from 5:45 to 6:30pm END OF SCHOOL DAY Please be on time to pick up your child/ren in the afternoon. Teachers have many afternoon meetings that they need to attend. The pick up from Shaw Street is working well with a safe, clear procedure for pick up. If you need a name sign for your vehicle please let the office know ASAP. The children are dismissed at 2:50pm. Kindergarten finish at 2:20pm this week. Please do not walk through the carpark, use the path to enter and exit the carpark as vehicles are coming and going all day. If it is wet weather, pick up will be from the hall and COLA area rather than basketball/netball courts.

BIKE LICENCES 2020 Students over 10 years of age can apply for a bike licence from the office. No student under 10 is allowed to ride to school, this is a Department of Education directive.

SWIMMING CARNIVAL Our carnival is on Friday, 21 February for our 8-12 year olds. Please send in permission and payment ASAP as notes have been sent home today.

Hope your week goes well. Annette Parrey

BACK OR TIED BACK THANK YOU!

Welcome back everyone to a brand new year, and a huge welcome to our new Kindy families for 2020. We’re hoping that you love our Brisbania community as much as we do! FIRST P&C MEETING This Tuesday night (4 February) at 7pm in the staffroom is our first P&C meeting for the year. This first meeting for the year will be about the vision for the next twelve months and working out some fundraising strategies to match. We’d love anyone (even you) to come along and bring your creative ideas. It should be a fun night! If you can’t make this week, we meet on the first Tuesday of every month at 7pm. Everyone is more than welcome UNIFORM SHOP The Uniform shop is open again for the year. The best way to buy at the uniform shop is to order online using Flexischools (flexischools.com.au). Then pickup hours are from 8:30-9:30 every Friday morning. If Flexischools isn’t your thing then cash payment is acceptable at the shop. CANTEEN NEWS Paula and Rose are back in action in the canteen and delicious, healthy food is available every day! If helping out in the canteen is something you would be interested in, or even if you just want more information about what it would involve, please call the school and ask to speak to Paula or Rose, they’d love to speak to you about serving our kids. VOLLY OF THE WEEK Each week of the Monday Note (well… most weeks), we’re keen to spotlight a volunteer who is contributing to our Brisbania Community. It might be a parent coming in to assist in the classroom, a canteen or uniform shop helper, or someone working tirelessly behind the scenes. Starting from next week I’ll profile someone here so that you can meet more of our community, and also get a taste for what it might look like to get involved. Watch this space! I’m really looking forward to a great year in our school! Dan Godden P&C President
