From the Principal Dear Parents and Caregivers, BOOK WEEK AND OPEN NIGHT: The Clifton Hills annual Book Week Parade was held last Wednesday, with a fantastic array of costumes and characters! Thank you to our wonderful parents and caregivers for assisting and encouraging your children with their costumes, ensuring their child feels a part of this celebration of all things books and reading. A big thank you to all of our wonderful staff who have made a big effort to get into character for the day. Its lovely to see so many of our school community get into the spirit of the event! On Thursday, we invited our school community into our school and it was so nice to see so many people brave the weather and enjoy the hard work of our children. It was also great to see the lovely comments that were passed on to staff during the night. Please know that the kind things you say to teachers and other members of staff are appreciated and remembered. It is little things like this that make our school community the type that so many others desire to be a part of. BOOK FAIR: I would also like to thank parents for their support of the, Book Fairthat was held here at the school, over the last week. Encouraging your children to read, and them being able to read, is one of the greatest gifts we can give our children. Congratulations to Taylor who was the winner of a free book after her ticket was drawn out of the raffle ticket box! FRIDAYS ASSEMBLY: Last week, we were treated to a lovely assembly that was hosted by Mr Hutchesons Pre-primary class. We enjoyed a fabulous song entitled, Mr Clicketty Cane – Wash Your Face with Orange Juice”, which is one of my most favourite childrens songs of all time. The children spoke beautifully and their behaviour was excellent. I thank them for a wonderful start to my Friday morning! FATHERS DAY STALL: A big Thank you to our P&C Fund Raising Committee who have just completed the Fathers Day fund raising activities, which were again, well supported by the school community. We hope that all our Father s enjoy the gifts that were purchased by their children. IN TERM VACATIONS: Please remember that if you take your children on holidays during the term, for more than four days, that you are required to complete the, Students Taking in Term Holidaysform which can be found in our Front Office. ATHLETICS CARNIVAL: Yesterday we attempted to hold our annual Athletics Carnival. Even though the forecast was for afternoon showers, we felt confident that we would be able to at least complete the athleticspart of the day before the showers came in. As you all know, one big rain cloud decided to rain on our parade and the carnival was cancelled, just before all events were completed. Fortunately, we completed enough events to calculate the winning Faction and the champion boy/girl for each year level. Congratulations to Ellis, who are the winning faction. Individual winners are listed within this newsletter. These results were announced to the students at a brief special assembly this morning. We will formally present the shields and medals to the winners at the next scheduled assembly, which will be on Friday, 20 September. We hope that this will give all parents and family members who wish to see the presentations, enough time to make arrangements to do so. Above all, we would like to sincerely thank all of you for your quick thinking and understanding when the weather suddenly came in. Your support and assistance was wonderful. Week 5—The Builders are getting close to finishing the top block, but for now it is very loud. The Year 6’s and 5’s from Ms Baile’s class and Mr Fletcher’s class are looking forward to the excursion to AQWA on Friday. On Wednesday, we had the Book Parade where everyone dressed up so yesterday we had the Open Night where all the parents can see what their children have been doing all year. They could buy books from the Library and have dinner at the Canteen. By Noah and Spencer.

From the Principal continued TOURNAMENT OF MINDS (ToM’s): Tomorrow morning, 21 of our students will travel to ECU’s Joondalup Campus to compete in the Regional Divisional Championships for ToM’s. This is the culmination of a lot of hard work by the students and Mrs Ritchie over the term. We wish them the best of luck and know that they will make us all very proud.
