2010 was a good year with plenty of trail time, prototype testing and fabrication of new bicycles. In 2011 I hope to spend even more time on the trail, refining prototypes, learning from the experience, building cus-tom bikes and refining my craft. Each day will bring a new challenge. Im sure Ill see my share of mistakes along the way, taking valuable les-sons that can be applied to the next build or adventure. The spring holds renewed growth in my environment and with this well see the birth of the 44 Shop. Truly a dream come true.

I continue to work with and promote domestic suppliers, OEMs and manufacturing. I take pride that each of my frames is made here in the USA and I want to support those who do the same.

Youll find among the following pages a synopsis of my fabrication ethos, design methodology and my humble line of product offerings. Two 29er mountain frames, an all-around fat tire 29 adventure rig, and I hope to prototype a snow rig for testing through the winter of 2011. Along with these fine builds, youll also see a selection of carefully considered soft goods. Ive thrown in some stickers for good measure.

Much like the trail and the mountains, I hear the call to fabricate. It comes deep from within me and I cant imagine a life without creating something new. Experience, questions, answers, trial and error. Experi-ments with the unknown. Theres beauty and magic when you create something from scratch.

Through the process of building and repetition Ive been honing my craft. Ive got a long way to go. Luckily Ive had some of the best teachers and peers to show me the path.

Whats incredibly gratifying about bicycles is that we get to ride them. They take us along a journey. A path of discovery. And much like this ride, the fabrication of these machines is very much the same and as a builder, the two married together in harmony makes my soul sing. Each pedal stroke translates into each weld. The experience of the trail directs the choices in angles and measurements of every frame.

The story of the Snakedriver is one of the road less traveled. Over the hill and through the woods. Youve got no idea where youre going. Or maybe you do. Either way the Snakedriver is going to take you there. Ive honed this machine to be nimble on singlet rack but relaxed on the road. It really sings on loose gravel and dirt roads; its natural environment. Opt for lots of rack mounts, load her up and take her for point to point adventures. Or go lean and mean with a eccentric bot-tom bracket and get two bikes for the price of one. The sky is the limit with this machine. The unknown path calls.

44 KID DANGEROUSThe Kid is the first bike to come out of the stable. Low slung top tube, 16.75 chainstays thanks to a radius seat tube (not shown), and an upright riding position puts you in the bike. Much like its big brother Lightning, this ones built for the trail. A slightly stiffer ride for those of you who like quick handling and power through the pedal. The bottom bracket is high enough to clear trail nasties, but low enough to quicken steering, and lower the riders center of gravity. Opt for some rack and bottle mounts and this bike rules both the trail and the gravel. Upgrade to the 44 Modular dropouts and youve got 2 bikes in one.

44 MODULAR DROPOUTSAfter a lot of cups of coffee, refinements and prototypes, Ive honed the original concept of the modular dropout system. The thickness of the dropouts has been increased slightly, as well as the flange of the hood. The flange now allows for easier fabrication and the increased thickness increases strength. They are still one of the lightest modular dropout systems on the market. The form and function of this system were carefully considered. These are made right here in these 50 states by none other than Super Rat Machine.
