The Mehlville School Districts recently invested a hefty amount of time and money to remodel the entire dis-trict website, including all the individual school websites, elementary to senior high, under its umbrella. Among the changes are neatly school-color coordi-nated pages (Mehlville is green, Oakville gold, etc), miniature events calenders and a general modern streamlined upgrade to the whole look of things. The Student Prints staff decided to weigh in on what the district did right, and what work still has to be done to make the new site more user-friendly.

What the district did right: •Sleek, easy on the eyes new look and layout •Pages appear to load faster •Features full monthly lunch and break-fast menus in daily detail •Access to library resources such as Gale Databases, Newsbank and World Book •Teacher log-in that displays all classes •Upcoming events sidebar is up-to-date and helpful, easy to read •Google powered language selection tool in the upper left hand corner •Select files/forms availabl67e for down-load, such as:Newsletters, upcoming events/activities applications, t-shirt order forms, fund-

raiser information, college planning pack-ets, and other assorted informationWhat still needs improvement: •Mismatched fonts and colors, no con-sistency •Not many “Links” available to accom-pany information, that sidebar is usually empty, links to related places outside the district website would be helpful •Staff roster has no departments, catego-ries , pictures or titles for individuals as it previously did •Header pictures are old and rarely change, still using 2+ year old photos of people long graduated •Harder to navigate, but maybe we’re just used to it the old way
