Oleg Bodrov is an engineer-physicist and environmentalist.From 1980 till 1993 he washead of a group of the RegionalEcological Laboratory of theKhlopin Radium Institute, St. Petersburg. Since 2005 hehas been one of the initiatorsand head of an internationalNGO project for the promotionof safe decommissioning of theRussian nuclear power plantsand final disposal of the radio-active waste, spending nuclearfuel on the basis of the best international practice.

He is the NationalCoordinator in Armenia of “European Breeding Bird Atlas2”, an expert of two nationalfoundations and IUCN SSC. He has received 20 grants, onescholarship, and one award. He has published over 50 papers and is a co-author of two books.

She owns a M.A. degree in EnvironmentalPlanning from the University of Nottingham, England. Shereceived the 1st African ASHDENAward for her projects in thefield of alternative energy. Purnima Devi Barman, alsoknown as “Hargila baido”/Storksister among her colleagues, isa wildlife biologist in Aaranyakand a crusader for conservationof the highly endangered GreaterAdjutant Stork (Leptoptilos dubius). She has been rewardedmany times for her initiativesand is a member of the globalwomen in Nature Network. Herwork also includes giving bio-diversity classes in local villageschools, as well as empowering community women.

Dipal Chandra Barua BangladeshFounder / Chairman, BrightGreen Energy FoundationZayed Future Energy Prize

Dipal Chandra Barua was theFounding Managing Director of Grameen Shakti and the Co-Founder & Former Deputy Managing Director of GrameenBank. Back in 1996, he has introduced an innovative financialmodel which has made SolarHome System affordable to therural people at the price of kerosene. He is replacing currentlyused traditional hazardous diesel pumps with solar poweredirrigation pumps in the remoteareas of Bangladesh, which reduces dependency on weatherand grid electricity.

She is the inventor ofthe eco brick and its constructionsystem which transforms plasticwaste into construction materials.

Eva Gross focuses her work onthe interaction between peopleand threatened wildlife species,especially human-wildlife conflicts (HWC). Within herwork for the French NGO Awely,Wildlife and People she studiedHWCs in African and Asiancountries. She developed an assessment scheme suitable for all terrestrial ecosystems, therefore new ways for the protection of crops and villages against herbivores, just like educational tools, were developed.

Goran Gugic is Managing Director at Lonjsko Polje NaturePark Public Institution and graduated from the Forestry Faculty of Ludwig-MaximiliansUniversity in Munich. He movedto Croatia despite of the war,and headed Lonjsko Polje Nature Park as its first director.He is a member of WCPA, chair-man of the Croatian UNESCOMAB Committee and STRP National Focal Point of the Ramsar Convention. Gugic received the EuroNatur-Award2011 for his achievements inprotecting European natural heritage.

The foundation aims to build a community of environmentalleaders and to promote dialogue among all disciplines of environmental policies on a global level.

Therefore, the EEF convenes winners of renowned international environmental awards to allow them to share and exchange experience,ideas and innovative solutions for the world's most pressing challenges. It furthermore reaches out to NGOs, associations, businesses and other stakeholders in the field of environmental and climate protection. Throughthis, the foundation aims to give incentives to initiate a politically supportive,confidence-building, collaborative, and research-stimulating exchange.

The main projects of the EEF are the “International Convention ofEnvironmental Laureates – ICEL”, held annually since 2012 in Freiburg,Germany and the Online Platform EnviroNetwork.eu which was establishedin 2015 as a virtual meeting point for environmental laureates and otherpeople working and caring for the environment.

Under the umbrella of the EEF the environmental laureates adaptedseveral declarations addressing current pressing problems, including theRio+20 Declaration (2012), the Appeal to the world's foundations and philanthropists by the world's environmental prize winners (2014) or theLaureates Call to end repression against environmental defenders (2017).

The European Environment Foundation was founded in 2011 as anon-profit foundation under Swiss law. It is domiciled in Basel, Switzer-land.

The International Convention of Environmental Laureatesis an internationally leading and unique platform for exchanging experiencesand transferring knowledge between the laureates of the most prestigious environmental awards worldwide.

ICEL was launched 2012 in Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany; it has beenheld annually since.
