ANALYSIS: Step1: Bothdevicesmustbecorrectlyconfigured.1) Makesurethatbothdevicesareon.2) CheckthelistofmachineparametersinthecncrelatedwiththeRS232.

Please lookattheRS232parameterlistdependingonthecncmodel.3) Checktheconfigurationoftheperipheral.Makesurethatbothdeviceshave

the same baudrate,numberofbits,stopbits,parity,etc.4) IfcommunicationisthroughDNC,(Fagorcommunicationsoftware),makesure

that:a) thecncmachineparametersareactivatedforDNC.b) theconfigurationinDNCissetupaccordingtothemachinetype.c) thecorrectseriallineisselectedintheDNCsoftware.

Iftheproblemstillpersist,STEP2: Thecablemustbeproperlyconnected.

1) Makesurethattheconnectorsarepluggedintheproperplaceinbothsides2) Checkthepinoutofthecable.RefertotheinstallationmanualabouttheRS

232configuration.3) Makesurethatthecableislessthan49ft.anditisnotrunthroughpowerlines

ortransformers.Thiscancauseinterferencewithcommunications.STEP3: Detectwhichdeviceisdefective.

SYMPTOM: Thecncdoesnotsaythattheprogramisreceived.ANALYSIS: Ingeneral,itisduetotheENDOFFILEorENDOFTRANSMISSIONASCIIcharacter thattheperipheralhastosendinthepartprogram.Withoutitthecncdoesnot know whentostopsendingtheprogram.SYMPTOM: Thesoftwaregivesanoreplywithintimelimit.ANALYSIS: Makesurethatyouareusingtherightcomportinthesoftware.ALTLchangesthecom port.Checktheparametersandmakesurethecablefollowsourspecifications.SYMPTOM: Inthepc,therearepartprogramsbuttheydonotappearonthescreen.ANALYSIS: Makesureyouareinthecorrectdirectory.Alsocheckifthefileshavethecorrect

extensions.Formills,thepartprogrammustendwitha*.pimextensionandforlathesmustendwitha*.pitextension.Theseextensionshelpthecncrecognizewhattypeofpartprogramyouhave.

SYMPTOM: Thereiscommunicationbetweentheperipheralandthecnc,butitisnotpossibletoloadapartprogramtofromtoperipheralintothecnc.

ANALYSIS: Checkthatthefirstcharacterofthepartprogramhasa%symbolnexttotheprogramnumberfollowedby,MX,.

SYMPTOM: Whileloadingalongpartprogramfromaperipheralintothecnc,thecncwillgiveasyntaxerrormessage.

ANALYSIS: Inordertoknowexactlywhatthelineis,itisrecommendedtocuttheprogramintotwosectionsandtransmiteachsectionseparately.Repeatthisprocessuntiltheerroris

found.SYMPTOM: Whentransmittingorreceivingalongprogram,(digitizing,tracingorinfiniteprogram execution),sometimesthecommunicationisinterruptedwithanerror.ANALYSIS: 1) Checktoseeifthedevicesaregroundedproperly.
