WELCOME TO CHATTANOOGA!

WELCOME TO CHATTANOOGA!On behalf of the AFS Tennessee Chapter, it is with great pleasure to welcome you to Chattanooga and the 81st AFS Southeastern Regional Conference! My wife Rhonda and I hope you enjoy your time here in the Scenic City and experience why the New York Times named Chattanooga one of the “Top 45 Places to go” in the world.

This 81st Anniversary Southeastern Regional Conference is the result of many hours of volunteer work by our much esteemed Presenters, the Regional Planning Committee members, Advantage Printing, the great staff and our friends at the Chattanoogan Hotel, the great Southern Belle Riverboat, and the courtesy of Signal Mountain Golf & Country Club.

We have chosen a theme for this year’s regional as “Pathway to Progress: Casting the Future”. We as a committee feel the future is very important to our industry. We felt the best way to assure our future is through improving leadership, communication, strategic planning, teamwork, and education. You hopefully will find this conference provides the information and unveils new ideas for you to provide a “Pathway to Progress” for your organization.

Many Corporate Sponsors and Advertisers have contributed time and money to make this Conference a Success. We deeply appreciate their support and generosity. Again, Welcome to Chattanooga!

Randy Phillips, Conference Chairman

Steele Excellence in Marketing Award and the 2011 AFS Keating Founders’ Freedom Award for outstanding service in the filed of government affairs.

While involved in government affairs, he has made several key relationships in Washington, most notably his relationship with his district representative, Congressman Ralph Hall. This relationship has allowed access across halls and committees to help spread the cause of afs and further facilitate the efforts of our AFS Washington office. Through joint efforts with the Washington office, Norch has been able to brief representatives at the 2008 RNCC Convention, testify before the house small business committee, repeatedly meet with other committees such as energy and commerce, small business advocacy, senate finance, house education and workforce, and many others to inform and educate them on the impacts of pending legislation affecting our industry.

Most recently, he was involved with thermal reclaim rule discussions and was a panelist for the Silica Summit regarding crystalline silica permissible exposure limits. This role has recently expanded into co-chair for the AFS Silica Task Force along with Tom Slavin, with both recently testifying before OSHA/U.S. Department of Labor regrading OSHA’s rule for occupational exposure to respirable crystalline silica.
