Spring has

sprung into ac-

tion with warmer

weather and

blooming plants;

however, the

Outlaws are al-

ways in action.

The past month

has been a very

busy one for all

of the Soldiers.

Missions and

more missions

are constantly

filling the Out-

laws schedules.

Some of the

missions are as

close as Vilseck

while one Sol-

dier has been

sent all the way

to Romania in

support of the

MK mission.

Classes are still

being taken to

ensure Soldiers

are always being

educated. In the

past month, Out-

laws have at-

tended HAZ 12

(hazardous ma-

terial), SAM 31

(armor), CLS

(combat life

saver), ATLAS

(All Terrain Lifter

Army System),

and Knights Uni-

versity (prep for

WLC). As usual,

the Outlaws are

coping with low

staff; however,

the detachment

has done great

making sure the

job gets done.

One of our Sol-

diers is about to

become a father

for the fourth

time in the com-

ing weeks, while

another Soldier

just found out

that she is ex-

pecting her first

child due in De-

cember.

The Outlaws have welcomed a new

NCO to Alpha Detachment, SSG

Thressa Combs. The majority of

our new Soldiers have just started

their military career; however, SSG

Combs will be with us for her final

lap. She is scheduled to retire in

August of 2015. She originally

joined the Army November 3,

1998. Serving her entire enlist-

ment with finance, she comes to

us with lots of experience. The

Outlaws are very excited to see

what we can learn from our new

NCO. SSG Combs comes to us

from Ft. Hood, Texas and this is

her second tour in Germany.

Alpha Detachment proudly supports all of the bases in

Bavaria with finance from time to time. This time the

Outlaws traveled to Hohenfels to service Soldiers from

the Czech Republic in order to support Rotation 14-03B

Enabler Support. Each Czech Solider verified their infor-

mation, signed a record, and received their cash. Be-

cause this mission was dealing with cash, the Outlaws

made sure to be extra cautious with the money. They

ensured its safety and verified the amount before dis-

bursing. The mission included two cashiers, two super-

visors, and a guard for protection. It was interesting

conducting business with Soldiers from another coun-

try. Even though our native language, customs, and

procedures are different from both armies, we were

still able to conduct business and get the job done.

ATLAS SPC Hawkins, Donte attended a class on the

10K Terrain Lifter Army System (ATLAS) with

18th CSSB, 1st ICTC locally in Grafenwoehr.

The forklift is a mobile, variable reach, rough

terrain forklift (RTFL) capable of handling all

classes of supplies. It is able to lift 4,000

pounds at 21.5 feet, 6,000 pounds at 15

feet, and 10,000 pounds at 4 feet. Even

though the Outlaws do not normally use this

type of vehicle as finance Soldiers, it is al-

ways good to have someone that is experi-

ence and certified. If a situation were to

arise where our unit or our fellow Soldiers is

needed, we would be able to help. SPC Haw-

kins also enjoyed learning something out of

the ordinary that was a change from the or-

dinary things done every day in the finance

office.

On March 27th the Outlaws visited an

Obstacle Course for training. This experi-

ence was refreshing in the nice weather

and away from the office environment.

The course included obstacles to climb

over, crawl under, balance on, and navi-

gate through. The obstacle course

helped the Outlaws bodies train to be

physical fit as well as provide obstacle

situations that could be used in real life

combat situations. The course also aided

in keeping the Outlaws minds sharp.

Each Solider must practically think how

to accomplish the task at hand ensuring

success, completion time, and safety.

The Soldiers worked together as a team

to make sure everyone made to it the fin-

ish line. The Outlaws are excited to start

more outdoor training in the future.

Being a part of the Rear Detach-

ment, there are times when the Out-

laws get very busy and work is non-

stop. Recently, there have been a lot

of missions and low staff at the of-

fice. The Soldiers always make sure

they get the job done, but things can

get very tiring. One Thursday after-

noon, to create some unit cohesion

in a different environment, the Out-

laws went to the bowling center for a

little fun as well as an April fool’s Day

BBQ hosted by the FRG. Soldiers and

family members had a nice time re-

laxing, eating, and planning for fu-

ture events. Everyone was excited to

start planning for the rest of our de-

tachment’s return from theater this

summer. The Outlaws would like to

thank the FRG for providing the

meats and creating an awesome

event.

On Thursday April 10th, SFC Perreault from USAREUR

G8 visited the Outlaws to discuss AFMO’s “Hubbed” the

transactional activity of the Unmated Disbursements

(UMDs) and the Unliquidated Obligations (ULOs). The

class covered in introduction to changes that will be

coming to the Army Finance corps. He showed us sev-

eral things dealing with DTS (Defense Travel System),

GFEBS (General Fund Enterprise Business System),

and budgeting in general. We were given several exam-

ples of how to solve issues and errors that we might

come across in these systems. He showed us step by

step in the actual system how to fix these problems.

The Outlaws are looking forward to more training from

SFC Perreault to cover more in-depth training on these

two systems. He is an expert in his field and it was

pleasure learning from him.

Welcome Home 2CR! The main bodies of 2nd Cal-

vary Division in Vilseck have redeployed. The Outlaws

are always there ready with a brief explaining how to

fill out their travel vouchers, and the changes that

will be going on with their finances. Then, the Out-

laws return to collect the travel vouchers to be coded

and processed for per diem. The documents have

been coming in by the hundreds keeping the Outlaws

far from bored at work. There is always something

that needs to be done. When the Soldiers are not out

at on a mission, they are hard at work processing in

the office. There may be a lot of work to do, but the

important thing is that all of these Soldiers from our

fellow unit have returned safely and are happy to be

home. We are here to ensure that they do not suffer

any hardships by stopping their downrange entitle-

ments fast and efficiently, and paying them their per

diem for the time spent downrange.
