KENYA HEALTHCARE FEDERATIONKenya Healthcare Federation (KHF) is the health sector board of the Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA). Founded in 2004, the Federation works with commercial healthcare institutions, professional associations and non-state healthcare firms to promote strategic public-private partnerships towards achieving national access to quality healthcare and is dedicated to engaging the government and all relevant stakeholders in achieving quality healthcare by maximizing the contribution of the private sector.

In addition to influencing public policy, KHF also voices its support and concerns, and provides alternative solutions to issues facing the health sector. The Federation has participated in several policy formulation meetings and has actively taken part in different engagement structures in regards to health issues. Its membership includes Institutional Associations, Professional Medical Associations, and Corporates.

Membership Benefits1. Advocacy

The provision of an enabling business environment forms the basis of KHF’s mandate. KHF continuously engages the Government of Kenya and government agencies on issues relating to health policy, taxes, regulations and pricing. The Federation has a long standing network and established relationships in the following Public Private Dialogue Platforms, which the members get to participate in and air their views on issues affecting their businesses and private healthcare sector in general.

2. public private partnerships (ppp) KHF contributes to the public private partnership agenda through projects and partnerships. We are a signatory to the Public Private Partnership Health Kenya (PPP-HK) Chapter that provides an overall guide for Public Private Partnerships for Health in Kenya.

3. Networking Through various forums and events, KHF members get an opportunity to network and engage with a diverse range of stakeholders from the private health sector. These networking opportunities enable members to develop linkages and partnerships with leading Kenyan healthcare organizations, corporations and associations; Expand and diversify their business portfolio through engagement and collaboration among members; Share and receive invitations and information on business opportunities and high profile events within Kenya, regionally and globally.

4. Regional IntegrationKHF, as a co-founding member, is directly connected to the East Africa Healthcare Federation (EAHF), East Africa Health Platform (EAHP under EA Business Council), Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), Africa Healthcare Federation in-formation and East African Community (EAC) through its membership affiliation. KHF members are given opportunities to participate, present and contribute to the healthcare agenda of these forums.

5. Access to patent events, trade missions and expos throughout the year.KHF organizes and partners with other companies for events, events, trade missions and expos thoughout the year where its membership enjoys exclusive access to these events.

Key AchievementsKHF has achieved its visibility through the effective Public Private Dialogue with the government and other stakeholders.

Some key milestones include:KHF managed to provide alternatives to the Social Health Insurance Bill of 2004 and halted it becoming a legal Act Through the unification of KHF members as one voice, taxation on imported pharmaceutical raw materials was reversed.KHF has provided key inputs on the Health Bill to ensure that the environment encourages growth for for the private sectorKHF actively participates in Ministerial Stakeholders Forum (MSF), County Stakeholder Forum and Presidential Roundtable (PRT)KHF is one of the co-founders of the East Africa Healthcare Federation (EAHF) and actively supports regional integration activities
