consideredsmallormid-sized,implementingaPlannedGivingprogramissomethingthatisusuallyona“wish-list”butsomehowendsupgettingdeferredtoafuturedate.Thereisavalidexplanationastowhysomanynon-profitsarehesitanttoinitiateplannedgivingprogramsastheprocessseemsverycomplicated.Legaldocuments,attorneys,accountants,financialplanners...anycombinationofwhicharetypicallyassociatedwithplannedgifts,mightleadonetothinkthattheeffortwillbetimeconsumingandexpensive.Insomecircumstancesthismayprovetobetrue,however,initiatingyourfirstplannedgivingprogramcanbesimpleandefficient.
Basically,“plannedgiving”canbedefinedastheactofmakingacommitmenttogiveacharitableorganizationamajorgift,overtimeoratdeath,aspartofthedonor’sfinancialandestateplanning.Therearemanyvehiclesthatadonorcanutilizetogivesuchagift.Theycanrangefromasimplecashbequestmadeinawill,tocharitablegiftannuitiesandcharitableremaindertruststhatestablishmajorgiftstothenon-profitwhilesimultaneouslyprovidinglifetimeincometothedonor.
Whileultimatelyanon-profitwillwanttoexploreallgiftoptionsavailabletoit,tobeginaplannedgivingprogramtheorganizationcansimplyasksupporterstoconsiderleavingaportionoftheirestatetothecharityviatheirwilloratrust.Oncethecampaigngainsmomentum,thecharitycanthenincorporatemorecomplexformsofplannedgivingavailable.
Plannedgiftscanbeagamechangerforyourorganization.Everynon-profitshouldfocus,inpart,onidentifyingbenefactorstoleaveplannedgiftsbecausethereisnobetterwaytoplanforthefuturegrowthandstrengthofyourorganization.

itsspringbreakfastforumattheCochechoCountryClubinDover.‘Workplace Wellness – Why It’s Important to Your Business’focusedonbestbusinesspracticestoassistwithemployeeretention,recruitingandproductivityasitrelatestoemployeehealth.TheDoverChamberwasproudtopartnerwithHarvard Pilgrim Health Care,whonotonlyservedastheunderwriterbutalsoassistedinplanninganddeliveryoftheevent.
“Workplaceprogramsandpoliciesthatencourageemployeestoadopthealthierlifestyleshelpbusinessessetthemselvesapartashighlydesirableplacestowork,”accordingtoKatieMacKinnon,PresidentoftheGreaterDoverChamberofCommerce.“Notonlydotheseinitiativeshelpattractandretaintalent,buttheyalsoproducemoreproductiveemployees,buildstaffmorale,combatemployeeabsenteeism,reducehealthcarecostsforemployers,andultimatelyimprovethebottomlineforbusinesses.”
