Term 1 Week 9 20 March 2017
Our Primary SRC leaders ran some ac vi es in rela on to the Na onal Day of Ac on Against Bullying and Violence.
This na onal day is a posi ve day of ac on for Australian teachers, students and school communi es to take a stand together and say "Bullying. No Way!"
Our Science unit this term is ‘Extreme Weather’. 5/6 conducted a science experiment ‘Cyclone in a bo le’, a simula on model of a real cyclone.
Students got to hypothesis, predict, problem solve and redesign the experiment to best create a vortex and watch centric forces at work.

Students will be commi ed to 2‐4 fitness sessions a week and to eat well, in order to live well. We thank Fit‐n‐Fast for their generous dona on of gym equipment.
All staff par cipated in PBL and Cultural Awareness training last Wednesday a ernoon. The professional learning hours have been rescheduled throughout the year in‐lieu of the last two days of the year.
Last week, I neglected to thank Logan, Brian, Bridget and Isabella from Year 10 who assisted at the Year 7 camp as peer leaders. They had a big role to play as mentors and also assisted Ms Freeth and Mr Horley.

Yeoval Central School is pleased to introduce the new Sunrise program, which will begin in the next few weeks.
The inten on of the program is to provide the opportunity for students in Years 9 to 12 to complete a completely free regular fitness program based on 2 sessions per week at the school. The sessions will be held at lunch me, or recess if other ac vi es are on during lunch on any given day. Please understand that this program is a 2 Term minimum commitment. It will involve some endurance and flexibility work to be completed at home in the students’ own me.
This program is about strength and fitness. Weight loss or gain can be a desired outcome, but it is not the sole purpose.
There will be a teacher supervising the twice weekly sessions, and the training program will be created in consulta on with the students by a qualified fitness trainer. Progress will be tracked through an online app created by this trainer.
Each 5 weeks, the trainer will visit the school and review the progress of each student. The program can be modified in intensity, frequency, and types of exercises. Basic advice on diet for exercise and wellbeing will be provided, but not to the extent of meal plans.
Students in Years 9 to 12 will apply to par cipate in the first round of the program and we will look in the future to expand the Sunrise Program to more students and year groups.
Mr Peasley and Mr Jones
