We must protect tax-exempt status of AAUW by adhering to IRS regulations and individual state laws while furthering the purpose for which we were all approved – advancing AAUW’s mission.
AAUW Fundraising Policy 501 with Guidelines
1. Branches must have Affiliate agreements with AAUW.
1. Funds raised using the name of AAUW must go to support its programs, activities, and services.
2. Before raising funds, you must decide how you intend to use them and advise donors in the solicitation.
3. Fundraising for other organizations at meetings/events or in publications is not allowed.
4. AAUW Action Fund donations are not tax deductible.
Fundraising Policy 501Highlights
6. Checks to AAUW Funds or to branches who are a 501C3 are tax deductible.
7. If a gift is deposited into a non-501C3 branch and a branch writes a check to AAUW national, then the branch must advise AAUW national of the identity of the donors and the value of any goods or services that the donors may have received for the gift to be tax deductible. AAUW national can then send a receipt.
8. AAUW national will send a receipt for any gift over $10.
