A is for active lines.

Active lines are lines that show action and add energy to a work of art . Diagonal, zigzag , and curve lines are all active lines.

B is for birds- eye view

Birds -eye view is when the viewers feel they are looking down on a scene.

C is for collage

A collage is bits and pieces of things glued onto paper.

D is for diamond shape Diamond shape is a four-sided shape made by combining two triangles.

E is for Expressionism

Expressionism is art that is more associated with emotion or strong feeling.Vincent Van Gogh was an expressionist painter.

F is for focal point

The focal point is the

area of artwork that is

emphasized.

G is for gesture sketch

Gesture sketch is lines quickly drawn to capture the movement of a person , animal, or object in a painting or drawing.

H is for hatching

Hatching is a shading technique using a series of repeated parallel lines.

I is for ImpressionismImpressionism is a style of painting started in France in the 1860’s . It captured everyday subjects and emphasized the momentary effects of sunlight. Monet was an impressionist painter.

J is for jewelry

Jewelry is a three-dimensional art that is made for people to wear.

K is for kiln

Kilns are an essential part of the manufacture of all ceramics, which, require heat treatment, often at high temperatures.. In the broadest terms, there are two types of kiln, both sharing the same basic characteristics of being an insulated box with controlled inner temperature and atmosphere.

L is for linear perspective Linear perspective is a way of using lines to show distance and depth.

M is for mural

A mural is a large work of art painted on a wall.

N is for neutral colors

Neutral colors are black, white , and grey.

O is for Op Art

Op art, also known as optical art, is a style of visual art that makes use of optical illusions. "Optical art is a method of painting concerning the interaction between understanding and seeing. Op art works are abstract, with many of the better known pieces made in only black and white. When the viewer looks at them, the impression is given of movement, hidden images, flashing and vibration, patterns, or alternatively, of swelling or warping.

P is for Pop Art

Pop art is an art movement that emerged in the mid 1950s in England and in the late 1950s in the United States Pop art presented a challenge to traditions of fine art by including imagery from popular culture such as advertising, news, etc. In Pop art, material is sometimes visually removed from its known context, isolated, and or combined with unrelated material.

Q is for Quilting

Quilting is a sewing method done to join two or more layers of material together to make a thicker padded material.

R is for realism

Realism was an artistic movement that began in France in the 1850s, after the 1848 Revolution Realists positioned themselves against Romanticism genre dominating French literature and artwork in the late 18th and early 19th centuries

S is for sculpture

A three –dimensional work of art.

T is for tessellation

A type of shape reversal that changes quickly and fits together like a puzzle.

U is for unrealistic

scaleWhen size relationships do not make sense in a work of art.

V is for vanishing

pointVanishing point is the point on the horizon line where all the lines moving back into space seem to meet.

W is for weaving

Weaving is a method of fabric production in which two distinct sets of yarns or threads are interlaced at right angles to form a fabric or cloth.

X is for Xanthic

Xanthic is a form of the

color ‘yellow’ or ‘yellowish’

in reference to the

Cullens’ golden eyes.

Y is for yarn

Yarn is a long continuous length of interlocked fibers suitable for use in the production of textiles, sewing, crocheting, knitting, weaving, embroidery, and rope making.

Z is for zig zag linesZig Zag lines are diagonal lines that connect and change directions sharply.
