The Acropolis Museum is a famous museum that houses many of the archaeological finds from the Acropolis. This
class is walking down the stairs at the entry of the museum.
This is the entry to the Acropolis Museum. This is a serious museum and there are rules to follow. There is no running
in the Museum!

When they were building the Acropolis Museum they found ancient ruins! The Museum is built on stilts and you can see
through the floor to the ruins below! Don't be worried about the glass floor. It is special glass that will not break.

Once you enter the museum you will have to go through security and buy a ticket. This group got their tickets and
walked up the ramp towards the sculptures. They are sitting and listening to a tour guide.
The Acropolis Museum is full of sculptures. You can walk around them and see them from all sides. It is OK to look,
but do not touch the sculptures!

These are the famous Caryatids from the Erechtheum. They used to be on the Acropolis. People come from all over the
world to see these beautiful columns.
Sometimes it is very crowded at the museum. If being in a crowd stresses you out, find a bench and sit down for a
while.
This man does not like crowds so he waited a few minutes until the crowd moved away. Museums can be busy so
remember it is OK to sit and wait for the crowd to thin out.
Here are some statues you might see at the Acropolis Museum.
This statue is my favorite. I wonder what your favorite statue will be?
This writing is in ancient Greek.
On the top floor are some of the Parthenon Marbles.

I hope you enjoy the Acropolis Museum! I'll bet you do a great job visiting. Make sure you don't touch the art!
Ability Guidebooks are step-by-step instructions on how to access community destinations. For many people with autism and neuro-diversity, new situations can cause stress and discomfort.
Ability Guidebooks help prepare people for new experiences. This is why I emphasize the places to sit and areas to relax.
This book will also help general ed teachers prepare their young students for a visit to the Acropolis.
Brett Bigham is the 2014 Oregon State Teacher of the Year and is a 2015 National Education Association Educator of Excellence from Oregon. Bigham is the first Special Education teacher to win
these awards.
Bigham was named a Global Fellow by the NEA Foundation and traveled to Peru as an ambassador of that program. This allowed Bigham to create his first international Ability Guidebook for the Museo de Inka in Cusco, Peru. He has since created over 100 books for 28 countries and in five
languages!
Thank you to the city of Athens and the staff at the Acropolis.
