Saint Viator Million Dollar Classicevery year, Barry CarlsOn reserves the third Monday in June for saint viator’s Million dollar classic golf out-ing. carlson, a 1968 graduate of saint viator, and his four-some won the outing at biltmore country club in north barrington on June 17. the foursome included scott beck, Matt Kelsch, and dave berggren.

the Million dollar classic was created as a fundraising event to support saint viator’s athletic programs. this year’s proceeds will help with the purchase of a new van to trans-port student athletes and coaches to their competitions. sean esterquest, class of 2014, created a video to illustrate what life would be like without a new van. past outings have raised money to hire a full-time strength and conditioning coach, give students a more effective fitness program, and enhance the Murphy Wellness center.

senior andrew hansen spoke to the crowd during dinner. hansen was co-caption of last year’s football team. students were present at every hole. One hole featured a blackjack table, another held a rum tasting table. after dinner, golfers bid on auction items that included: a round at four different country clubs, a skybox to watch the blackhawks, and a photo safari trip to south africa.
