We’d like to say a huge thank you to all of our amazing volunteer walk leaders for leading our many walks week after week, come rain or shine, Activ8 Lincoln and West Lindsey Health Walks certainly could not exist without you!
Holly & DeanIf you would love to be a part of this amazing scheme, if you feel you have 2 to 3 hours a week or month to give to helping others get active in their local community, if you have a passion for walking and want to share it with others then please get in touch by speaking with your walk leader or contacting Holly or Dean on (01522) 873581 – or visit our website and register for walk leader training online www.lincoln.gov.uk/healthylifestyles.
Health Walks in Lincoln and West Lindsey couldn’t happen without the hard work and commitment of local volunteers who spend their time assisting Walking for Health with a whole range of different roles. The current team of volunteers help others to discover walking and are highly regarded by their walking peers.
Volunteers receive support and advice from the local scheme coordinator and help to promote physical activity within the community. Providing a friendly, safe and well organised walk helps to give people a foundation to becoming healthier and happier.
Walk leaders are responsible for welcoming walkers to the walk - particularly new walkers, making sure paperwork like registration forms and registers are completed, leading and managing walks – usually jointly with other walk leaders, making sure walks are, friendly, enjoyable and safe. You might also be involved with mapping out and risk assessing new routes.
As well as enjoying the benefits of regular walking themselves, walk leaders meet some new and amazing people as well as provide the opportunity to help others get active and start walking. Some other great benefits include full training with a nationally recognised and accredited scheme, resources and equipment to help fulfil your role, the opportunity to help develop your leadership, people management and other skills, plus the opportunity to meet other like minded volunteers.
Celebrating our Volunteers!
