SUBSURFACE EXPLORATION AND SUBSURFACE CONDITIONS Five (5) test pits were excavated using a small tracked excavator at the approximate locations

indicated in Figure 4. The subsurface conditions are described in the following paragraphs.

Test Pit 1 (TP-1): This location exposed 10 to 17 inches of medium brown

and orange-brown highly plastic clay (CH) overburden soil, overlying light

brown and light orange-brown fractured limestone rock at refusal depth.

One sample of the clay was tested to determine plasticity (Atterberg limits)

and yielded a liquid limit (LL) of 67% and a plasticity index (PI) of 44. One

remolded specimen was subjected to swell testing and exhibited 17.8%

vertical swell (Figure 5) from an initially hard condition (PP=4.5+ tsf) and

moderate moisture condition (LI = -0.091), indicating the clay mineralogy

has relatively high shrinkage and swelling potential.

TP-2: The test pit revealed 6 to 8 inches of dark brown highly plastic clay

topsoil (CH) with gravel (rock fragment) content, overlying orange-brown

clay (CH) with root content to a depth of 13 to 16 inches, underlain by

orange-brown, pale brown, and trace white clayey gravel with sand (GC)

residual soil to a depth of 24 to 28 inches where refusal was encountered

on hard limestone rock. One sample of the orange-brown clay in the deeper

residual soil stratum was tested to determine plasticity and yielded a LL of

62% and a PI of 41. One bulk sample of the clayey gravel was tested to

determine gradation and yielded 38% fines (clay+silt), 20% sand, and 42%

gravel.

TP-3: This location exposed 4 inches of dark grayish brown clayey topsoil

overlying orange-brown clay (CH) with root content, to a depth of 22 inches

where refusal was encountered on hard limestone rock. One sample of

the orange-brown clay was tested to determine plasticity and yielded a LL

of 57% and a PI of 39. One remolded specimen was subjected to swell

testing and exhibited 14.7% vertical swell (Figure 5) from an initially hard

condition and moderate moisture condition (LI = -0.026), indicating the clay

mineralogy has relatively high shrinkage and swelling potential.

TP-4: The test pit revealed 9 inches of dark grayish brown clay (CH) topsoil

with root content and with some orange-brown to medium brown clay (CH),

overlying white and light gray fractured limestone rock with pale brown to

orange-brown stained fracture surfaces, to a depth of 17 inches where

refusal was encountered on hard limestone rock.

TP-5: This location exposed 4 inches of dark grayish brown clay topsoil

(CH or CL) with some fine sand content and root content overlying hard

limestone rock.

7. CEILING MOUNTED JUNCTION BOXES ARE FOR FUTURE CEILING FANS. PROVIDE

CIRCUITING FOR FUTURE CEILING FANS AND CONTROL AS REQUIRED. PROVIDE

MULTI-GANG WALL BOXES FOR ROOMS WITH CEILING MOUNTED JUNCTION

BOXES. EACH CEILING FAN SHOULD BE PROVIDED WITH AN ADDITIONAL GANG IN

ADDITION TO THE LIGHTING CONTROL GANG. ALL GANGS SHALL BE INSTALLLED

UNDER COMMON COVERPLATE WITH LIGHTING CONTROLS.

LIGHTS SHALL BE CONNECTED TO THE NON-SWITCHED CIRCUIT SERVING THE

AREA. PROVIDE FIXTURE WITH 90-MINUTE BATTERY UNIT FOR EMERGENCY

6. NEW BRANCH CIRCUITRY SHALL BE ACCURATELY IDENTIFIED AT THE

RESPECTIVE ABOVE CEILING JUNCTION BOXES. THE ASSOCIATED PANEL,

CIRCUITS, AND VOLTAGE SHALL BE IDENTIFIED ON ALL JUNCTION BOX COVERS.

IN ADDITION, THE PANEL DIRECTORIES SHALL BE UPDATED.

7. ALL CIRCUIT BREAKER NOT UTILIZED SHALL BE TURNED "OFF" AND LABELED

"SPARE" ON UPDATED PANEL SCHEDULE.

8. ALL CIRCUIT BREAKERS TO BE UTILIZED FOR EQUIPMENT WITH HERMETIC

REFRIGERANT MOTOR-COMPRESSORS (HVAC EQUIPMENT AND REFRIGERATORS)

SHALL BE HACR TYPE.

SEPARATE ACCESSIBLE REMOTE RESET OR GFCI BREAKER. COORDINATE

ROUGH-IN LOCATION WITH PLUMBING CONTRACTOR.

5. RECEPTACLE FOR CONNECTION TO PRINTER. VERIFY RECPETACLE NEMA

CONFIGURATION WITH TENANT IT PRIOR TO ROUGH IN.

6. EXTERIOR RECEPTACLES MOUNTED IN SOFFITT FOR CHRISTMAS LIGHTS.

7. PROVIDE 2 GANG CAST IN PLACE FLOORBOX FROM HUBBELL OR LEGRAND.

PROVIDE (1) 3/4" CONDUIT FOR POWER AND (1) 1.5" CONDUIT FOR DATA FROM

FLOOR BOX TO ABOVE ACCESSIBLE CEILING. EACH FLOOR BOX SHOULD BE

RECESSED TYPE AND PROVIDED WITH 20-AMP GFCI RECPETACLE FOR THE

POWER GANG AND COVERS AS REQUIRED. COORDINATE COVER TYPE, FINISH,

AND EXACT MEASUREMENTS WITH OWNER PRIOR TO PLACEMENT.

8. JUNCTION BOX FOR CONNECTION TO SECURITY CARD READER. PROVIDE

JUNCTION BOXES, CONDUIT, AND WIRING AS REQUIRED FOR A COMPLETE
