AbundanceWhen do we have enough? Is it enough to be satisfied and not hungry? We need a snack. Is it enough when we have no leftovers? There is nothing left to eat. Do we have enough when we don’t need anything, but there is no money left in the bank? We always need savings. When do we consider something an abundance? If enough is when we have extra and more than we need, what is abundance?

Our sense of blessing may be distorted if need is having extra and enough is having more than we could use. How much more does it take for us to feel like we have an abundance? The blessing of more actually has nothing to do with how much we have. If we feel like life isn’t fair or we are deprived, then we will not feel blessed. The actual amount may seem huge to someone else but to us it is not enough. We always want more. That kind of mindset will never understand blessing, no matter how much they have.

One concept of abundance today is having enough to waste. Not just more than we could use but enough to never wear a pair of shoes more than one day. Get new ones every day. Never need to wash because we always just buy new clothes and throw used ones away. In our age of multi-million-dollar contracts, abundance takes on a whole different mindset. God provided for the Israelites in their wandering by their clothes and shoes not wearing out. Today that would be poverty, not riches.

What did Jesus think about abundance? In Matthew 6 he taught that we should not be anxious about clothes or food because God takes care of those things. He will provide for the flower as well as for his people. Abundance is whatever God gives you. Paul had come to this conclusion in Philippians. 4. BOUNDARIES (Joshua DuBoise--Room 104)

Having clear boundaries is essential to a healthy, balanced lifestyle. A boundary is a personal property line that marks those things for which we are responsible. In other words, boundaries define who we are and who we are not. Boundaries impact all areas of our lives: Physical boundaries help us determine who may touch us and under what circumstances — Mental boundaries give us the freedom to have our own thoughts and opinions

-- Emotional boundaries help us to deal with our own emotions and disengage from the harmful, manipulative emotions of others -- Spiritual boundaries help us to distinguish God’s will from our own and give us renewed awe for our Cre-ator -- Often, Christians focus so much on being loving and unselfish that they forget their own limits and limitations.

NOTHING NEW UNDER THE SUN (Jack Farr--4Sixteen)

The class will be looking at history, politics and society from a Biblical standpoint. Some say things have changed a lot, some say things have been the same through the ages. What about God--how does he see us and what does he expect from us based on the times and environment in which we live.

CREATING COMMUNITY (Joshua DuBoise--Fellowship Hall)

It is unfortunate that most Americans, even Christians, feel isolated and alone. Our lives are busy, families are fragmented, schedules are full, and technology has kept us in isolation. Mission Field in the Mission FieldOne of the beautiful works of the Somprasong 4 congregation in Bangkok is their care of Pakistani refugees. Believers and non-believers have fled to Thailand to escape Muslim persecution and/or the social evils of Pakistani society. Such a family was Norreen and her five children. Her Muslim husband was taking his family back to Pakistan to divorce Norreen and keep the children. She refused to leave Thailand and shared her story with members of the Somprasong 4 church. They helped her and her children, her mother and her brother settle in Bangkok, even though they were illegal refugees. Brother Bhee, one of the Somprasong preachers, began Bible studies with the whole family and December 31st, Norreen, her mother and her brother were baptized into Jesus, the sixth Pakistani family that Somprasong has converted. We were thrilled to be preaching the Sunday they were baptized.

April 22nd we received the shocking news that the Thai Immigration police had arrested Norreen. The children are safe with their grandmother, but Norreen will be jailed until she returns to Pakistan or is accepted as a refugee in a third country. Bhee told us the church wrote a letter to the Thai Immigration confirming Norreen’s honesty, that she is the mother of five children, and that the church will care for her until she finds a third county. The condition for release is 50,000 Thai baht ($1,600) bail deposit that is returned when she leaves Thailand. Bhee told the Somprasong 4 members the following Sunday: “I made the announcement this morning and, praise God, right after the service, many have come and talked to me. So far we were promised to receive what was needed, all 50,000 baht.” The pictures show Norreen with her kids and with Ken and Jean back in November. Bhee is meeting with the Immigration Police to release her but, “it would really be a miracle if we can bail her out since no one has been released in nearly two years.” Please pray that Norreen can be reunited with her kids - Ken & Jean

Congratulations! We rejoice this week with Daniel & Lisa Fenwick and their family on the completion of the adoption process! Little Adam was officially adopted this past Thursday. Such a blessing for their physical and spiritual family at Mesa!
