Advanced Unit: I Spy Objective: Students will choose one topic to show variation in distance/angle/ composition & visual concept display within their current Camera skills. Steps: Choose a topic, form idea possibilities (sketch/list), & shoot topic in Camera. Requirements: 20 photos correctly placed & labeled in slide layout. Identify each of the distance/angle/composition with its dominating element & principle per image. All images clearly identifiable as part of the topic. Each shot must be significantly different (distance, angles, composition, lighting). Images should be free from distractions & adjusted when necessary (color, sharpness, lighting/ exposure, etc). Unit: Rubber Ducky Objective: Students will demonstrate current skills in Illustrator by tracing a rubber duck with the Pen tool & then exercise their creativity in applying a theme to the duck & appropriate compositional context. Steps: Bezier game for Ai Pen practice, theme sketch for ducks, trace duck, & apply theme in Illustrator. Requirements: all colors sampled from swatches, gradients adjusted, all font created into outlines, pathfinder applied not faked, shapes are closed, lighting is consistent in highlights/midtones/shadows, proper alignment/distribution, masking used when applicable, organized layers, & depth/perspective have been checked for accuracy. Unit: Mash Up Objective: Students will demonstrate current skills in Photoshop by choosing multiple subjects of juxtaposition to be blended seamlessly together in a dynamic composition. Steps: Butterfly Selection Ps practice, mashup sketches, find/cite images, & select/blend in Photoshop. Requirements: Selections & blending are photorealistic, lighting is consistent in highlights/midtones/shadows without loss of detail, color adjusted appropriately, distractions have been corrected, organized layers, nondestructive only techniques, & focus/filters/depth of field have been checked for realism. Unit: Gestalt Objective: Students will learn how the brain makes associations with visual information. Steps: gestalt examples doc, original gestalt Requirements: Visually clear aspect of Gestalt identified in an original work. Unit: Art History Objective: Students will research their favorite period/movement in Art History, discover what makes it distinctive and then add their personal modern spin. Steps: review art history examples from VOA, choose their 2 favorites, sketch 4 ideas for each (8 sketches total), apply approved sketch in C/Ai/Ps of their choice.
