2 CAMP SYSTEMS INTERNATIONAL A Q1 2018

Happy New Year folks! First and foremost, thank you for your patronage. It is a pleasure supporting you and we look forward to a great year ahead.

In 2017, CAMP was busy supporting you at your facility and improving our system. Last year, we had the pleasure of delivering advanced functionality to you in several areas. Here are a few:

• The iCAMP Mobile Application – improved ezSign workflow, discrepancy creation in RAMP Check and the new attachment panel

• AVTRAK Portal – enhanced user interface with more tools such as Component Transaction Report, a status filter in the Technical Bulletin Report, labor cost tracking and more

• CAMP Inventory Management System – including, but not limited to, the ability to request and issue parts from inventory via the CAMP Work Order without opening the Inventory Management application

The team also introduced CAMP CONNECT. In this issue, we explore the new CAMP CONNECT integration that unites CAMP services and our shop floor systems, CORRIDOR and Quantum Control, to deliver numerous benefits across the board.

While on the topic of “this issue,” I’d also like to draw your attention to the new ‘Spotlight’ and expanded ‘Toolbox’ segments. Respectively, ‘Spotlight’ is a complimentary, customer-centric article where CAMP customers and partners are invited to share their stories. This quarter we are pleased to feature Advice Serviços Aeronáuticos. If you would like to participate in the future let your analyst or FSR know.

Now find more answers in ‘Toolbox.’ In addition to CAMP Maintenance, the feature now reviews popular questions pertaining to other CAMP solutions, such as Flight Scheduling and Inventory Management.

In 2018, we continue to follow an innovative, customer-driven roadmap. Over the course of the year, anticipate further development to CAMP CONNECT; a powerful, new AMP revision management tool; enhanced electronic compliance and document handling; added functionality to the integration between CAMP Maintenance and Inventory systems and, for CAMP customers with both Maintenance and Engine Health Monitoring services, improved flow allowing you to initiate maintenance recommendations made by your Engine Health analyst direct from within the CAMP application.

We are excited about the path ahead and the opportunity to engage with you, elevate your user experience and exceed your expectations. As the year progresses, if you need anything or have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out. CAMP is an extension of your team and we are happy to help.

During NBAA-BACE 2017, CAMP launched its newest technology, CAMP CONNECT. CAMP CONNECT allows users of shop floor informa-tion systems, Corridor and Quantum Control,

and the owners they interact with, to integrate with the CAMP platform. CAMP CONNECT serves as the integra-tion layer that elevates the CAMP maintenance service and CAMP’s shop floor systems from stand-alone products into a dynamic, cohesive ecosystem. The benefits of the integra-tion are widespread, providing a frontier of possibilities for

owners and operators, flight depart-ments, and service centers.

What is CAMP CONNECT?

Before discussing the benefits of CAMP CONNECT, it’s important to understand

what this technology actually does. CAMP CONNECT provides integration between the Corridor and Quantum Control shop floor management systems used by service centers and the CAMP maintenance tracking service. This integration enables two types of data exchange:

❖ Work scope (what maintenance needs to be done on a particular aircraft) can be pushed electronically from CAMP to Corridor/Quantum

❖ After the work is completed, maintenance compliance data can be pushed electronically from Corridor/Quantum to CAMP

While this may sound simple, these two processes give rise to very significant benefits for aircraft Owner/Operators.

Owner/Operator Benefits

Every owner and operator seeks to optimize resources, control costs, minimize downtime, maximize efficiency and fly safely. CAMP CONNECT helps deliver on these objectives.

Solutions

CAMP Systems Launches

Aircraft Availability: It is inarguable an aircraft is as much a tool as it is an asset. The less downtime, the better. CAMP understands the importance of airworthiness and prompt return to service (RTS). When CAMP CONNECT is implemented, operators will likely see aircraft returned to service more quickly. Why? Using CAMP CONNECT, your maintenance repair and overhaul (MRO) facility can easily transfer your maintenance compliance data from its shop floor system to CAMP electronically – effectively eliminating the need to manually enter data twice. This reduces the time between completion of maintenance and the completion of proper compliance documentation. In other words, increased efficiency for your MRO means more time in the air for you.

Accuracy: Regulatory agencies around the world place the responsibility of operating a safe aircraft on the owner/operator. Accurate aircraft documentation is key to proving airworthiness. In “A Review Of Human Error In Aviation Maintenance And Inspection,” published by the International Journal of Industrial Ergonomics, authors Kara A. Latorella and Prasad V. Prabhu state, “Aviation safety depends on minimizing error in all facets of the system.” Data

entry is no exception. An innocently miskeyed number can easily have detrimental effects – impeding productivity, efficiency and, worst of all, safety. “Managing human errors has become a critical aspect of the aviation industry’s drive towards increasing the safety and reliability of the aviation system,” observes Latorella and Prabhu.

C NNECTSeamless Integration Optimized Workflow

CAMP CONNECT can help. Because CAMP CONNECT electronically exchanges maintenance records between your MRO and CAMP, the data only needs to be entered once, reducing the chance for human error. Vanguard Systems, a content management solutions provider, explains, “With automated systems, you remove the human factor, reducing errors, labor costs and long-term risks to your organization.” We strongly agree. This is one of many reasons we developed CAMP CONNECT. Reduced human error means your aircraft records are reliable and consistent across the board, ensuring you are compliant and airworthy.

Potential Cost Savings: There are numerous factors influencing the bottom line of your MRO invoice – labor, parts, scheduled work, unscheduled work, etc. It may surprise you to learn that CAMP CONNECT has the potential to save you some cash on that invoice. Not only does the technology lend itself to precisely prepared data, there is the potential for decreased labor costs and reduced documentation preparation fees.

In the course of a normal maintenance visit, your MRO must spend a significant amount of time determining exactly what maintenance must be done on your aircraft. This usually involves researching the required maintenance in CAMP and then re-entering that information in the MRO’s shop floor system. Of course, each maintenance visit is unique, but in the case of a large inspection package, CAMP CONNECT has the potential to eliminate 10 hours or more of the time your MRO would otherwise have to spend determining and manually entering work scope prior to your visit. Additionally, a potentially similar amount of time can be

saved by eliminating the need for your MRO to manually enter compliance information into CAMP on your behalf once the work is completed (as discussed above). When an MRO becomes more efficient in these ways, that efficiency can be passed on to you in the form of a lower invoice. And

what’s not to like about that!

For CAMP owner/operators, CAMP CONNECT delivers great benefits. The key takeaways are:

❖ Less Downtime: Increased efficiency for your MRO, means less time your aircraft is in the shop

❖ Accuracy: Maintenance tasks performed by your MRO are transferred back to CAMP electronically, reducing the likelihood of human induced documentation error

❖ Cost Reduction: Less time spent on data entry and manipulation means lower fees for services

Furthering the Technology

The current version of CAMP CONNECT is just the beginning of the roadmap for this technology. CAMP Systems plans to continue develop-ment of CAMP CONNECT, adding capabilities such real-time visibility of work status, remote notification and approval of requests for additional work, and more. Planned advancements will further boost the seamless connectivity between maintenance tracking and shop floor systems – enabling further process improvements and the resulting additional benefits. We invite you to learn more by calling us at +1-603-595-0030.

CAMP Product Release and Enhancement Review

Add Items in iCAMP

You can now add items natively in iCAMP. This allows users to add multiple tasks to the work order directly from iCAMP. Any type of task can be added using this option.

Add Discrepancy in Ramp Check

Adding a Discrepancy is available in the Ramp Check Module. Pilots can easily create a discrep-ancy upon finding problems in the course of normal aircraft operation.

iCAMP Attachments

Attach images directly from your mobile camera, gallery, or even popular cloud based applications such as Dropbox and OneDrive. The "Attach Button" is available in iCAMP to manage attach-ments available in each task.

Overlay MTX Tasks on the EHM Trend Plot

The latest milestone in the integration of Main-tenance Tracking and Engine Health data is here! Operators subscribed to CAMP MTX Tracking can now overlay the MTX tasks performed on their aircraft over the EHM plot, allowing them to assess the impact that Maintenance has on the performance of their engines. To access this fea-ture click on the “MTX” icon of the EHM Plot Graph > Select the “Task Groups” tab > check

the task group to display on the plot > click apply. The tasks belonging to the selected group will appear as green diamonds on top of the plot. What’s more, by clicking on the green diamond you can access the compliance documents and task details page.

In January 2018, operators of aircraft equipped with Honeywell TPE331 engines will be able to track the health of their engines from the CAMP EHM application.

Expired Shelftime Limits on Alerts Dashboard

Now easily view Expired Shelftime Limits directly from the dashboard. Select 'Expired Shelftime Limits' for a report of items that have expired within your inventory.

Inventory Dashboard Refresh

Users can now set an auto refresh standard for their dashboard within Inventory. Simply navi-gate to the "My Settings" tab in your Inventory and you will see a "Refresh Rate" box where you may choose how often you would like your dashboard to automatically refresh.

Trip Expense Search

A new data search tool is available, making it eas-ier to export trip expense data out of the system without having to request a customized report.

Customers can now build their own expense data queries using the search criteria options. Enter a date range, and select which type of expense to include in the search results, including Fuel, Leg, and Crew expenses. The “Column Chooser” allows you to select which data columns will be included in the output.

Once you find what you are looking for, all your search results can then be exported to Excel.

“FlightBridge” Integration

A new 3rd Party integration is now available to help dispatchers automate their trip planning tasks such as ordering catering, reserving hotels rooms, and arranging transportation or rental cars for crew and passengers. The integration can be enabled in Administration under 3rd Party Integrations.

When the integration is enabled, all new trips, changes to trips or trip cancellations will be sent over to “FlightBridge” which can then notify you if any of your existing trip arrangements need to be rescheduled or cancelled.

At CAMP, we continue to raise the bar! Building on our successful platform, we are constantly developing

new levels of functionality in order to drive your success in the hangar, on the tarmac, in the air – wherever, whenever.

This quarter, we are delighted to share some of the latest enhancements to the CAMP product suite.

first 11 months of 2017 with the first 11 months of 2016.

Clearly, the transaction activity has increased in 2017 in both the 7X market and G550 market. The greatest increase has been in the G550 market, where 5.7% of the active fleet turned over between January and November in 2016 compared to 8.7% for the same period in 2017. In the 7X market, 7.3% of the active fleet has turned over so far this year, compared to 6.0% in the first 11 months of 2016. By comparison, the XRS market saw a slight contraction in activity year-over-year with 10.1% turnover by November

However, itshould  be noted  that performance in the  XRS  market in the first 11 months of both  2016 and  2017 outperformed  thesame  period  in 2015 (not shown) when  only 7.1% of the XRS fleet turned over.

A  combination  of supply / availability and  demand /  resale retail transactions should  drive the trend  in  Average AskingPrices. In the  chart below we  can see  that this largely holds true. In the  G550 market, the  Average  Asking  Price  is up12.7% year-‐over-‐year from $22.4M to $25.2M today. In  the 7X  market, while the Average Asking Price is down  -‐4.8%  year-‐over-‐year to $27.3M, the current Average is up   4.8% from a low of $26.0M in mid-‐2017.   Similarly, in the XRSmarket, the   Average   Asking   Price   has contracted -‐5.1% from $22.5M in December 2016   to $21.4M today, but theAverage is  up  4.5%  from  a  mid-‐2017  low of $20M.

Q: What services does Advice Serviços Aeronáuticos (Advice) offer?

A: Technical Maintenance Control and Business Management

Q: Mr. Martins, what prompted you to establish Advice?

A: With a wide experience in repair station and service centers, and also in aircraft business management, I noticed the huge gap in the maintenance tracking and aircraft management area for the aircraft owner and operators. Advice Serviços Aeronáuticos was founded in October 2012, to support this segment – helping operators manage their products and the costs involved.

Q: What is the mission and vision of Advice?

A: Our mission is to: Facilitate and manage aircraft maintenance to reduce costs and keep aircraft with its maintenance program up to date. Our sights are always set on flight safety.

Q: What is the company's greatest strength?

A: The great knowledge and experience of our employees in the executive aviation market.

Q: What sets Advice apart in the industry?

A: The confidence of our customers. We are set apart by our close relationships with customers, manufacturers, suppliers, vendors and with all the community of the executive aviation market. This makes us different from our competitors.

Q: Tell our readers more about the support Advice offers its customers.

A: Maintenance tracking and aircraft business management are primordial to the owners and operators of Executive Aviation in order to maintain the manufacturer approved maintenance program as always up to date, with updated service bulletins

"and airworthiness directives. With that, besides to preserve the aircraft value - very important in a future resale – aircraft must be in airworthy condition, complying with the regulations of the authorities. Furthermore, it is essential aircraft be available to fly anytime its owners and operators need it, avoiding delays, cancellations and fines, due to the bad tracking or management of the maintenance. This is why Advice is in the market, making the lives of aircraft owners and operators easier.

Q: What value does CAMP bring to Advice?

A: CAMP is a partner, which brings us peace of mind to do our business correctly and more accurately and reliability, adding value to our products and vice-versa. We see CAMP as a complement of our services, as well as Advice as a complement of CAMP services; without this partnership, it would make our lives more difficult.

Q: How do CAMP services give you an edge?

A: Flexibility, ease of use and great customer support (Field Service Representatives, Analysts and Sales); they always respond on time to my requests. These are the advantages of having CAMP.

Q: What does the future hold for the company?

A: We will continue to maintain our high standards of quality in order to keep growing, consequently increasing the number of aircraft of the fleet under our responsibility.

We are set apart by our close relationships

with customers and with all the executive

aviation community. Carlos Martins, CEOFounder and owner

At the turn of the 20th century, immigrants from Europe and elsewhere brought their hopes, and their professional skills to start

their new life in America. Many families were forced to separate for several years until they could afford to bring the entire family together. Thousands of new American citizens settled in New York City, while others settled on the west coast. In 1910, Valeriano, Francesco, and Rachele Jacuzzi left their parents and ten siblings in Italy and eventually found employment in the rich agricultural areas of southern California. Surviving initial hardships the entire family eventually immigrated to the U.S. Rachele, the eldest son, had briefly studied engineering in Milan, Italy, and was self-taught in the science of physics and aeronautics. Rachele’s nephew and godson, Remo Jacuzzi, Sr., recorded oral history of their family’s earliest years in America within his book, Spirit, Wind & Water. As they customarily did in Italy, whenever it was possible, the Jacuzzi family worked together and lived under the same roof. The name “Jacuzzi” would eventually be familiar as the first successful whirlpool bath company in the U.S., but in 1911, their efforts were focused on air power instead of water power.

In 1911, four of the Jacuzzi brothers worked at a ranch near Los Angeles owned by Earle Remington, a wealthy sportsman who possessed a small fleet of aircraft and operated a flying school. Rachele became the mechanic for

Rachele Jacuzzi (in the center of this photograph) and his brothers moved their original propeller shop from Los Angeles, CA to Berkeley in ~1915 so that they could be closer to their biggest customers including, the Hall-Scott Motor Company. The business card is from the collection of Bill Lewis, a fellow Aircraft Engine Historical Society member. The photograph is from Spirit, Wind & Water, The Untold Story of the Jacuzzi Family by Remo Jacuzzi.

(Left) A sales brochure entitled “Airplane Propellers – Made by Jacuzzi Brothers” was most likely written by Rachele Jacuzzi. It included drawings and specifications for 13 propellers, hubs and clubs. Their propellers were made for fixed wing as well as rotor craft and test engine stands. Remington’s aircraft during which time he conceived a design for a wooden propeller adaptable to a wide variety of aircraft types.

The Panama-Pacific International Exposition of 1915-1916

Remo Jacuzzi, Sr. writes that according to family memories, Rachele went to the Panama-Pacific International Exposition of 1915 and 1916 in San Francisco. Rachele had perfected what he hoped would be a marketable new propeller and intended to introduce himself to the most prominent aviators and aircraft and engine manufacturers who attended the Expo. “While there,” writes Remo, “he found a temporary job as a mechanic with the Christofferson Aviation Company. At the exhibit, he met a flyer who had a prototype airplane that was not performing

Paraguay’s most famous aviator, Silvio Pettirossi (1887-1916) had been licensed in France before he toured South America, Europe and the U.S. At the 1915 Expo, Pettirossi was hosted at the Christofferson hangar during the days on which he made flights in his Deperdussin monoplane. He thrilled spectators with both day and late night flights. One article described him “falling like a leaf” from the sky when he turned off his engine and silently drifted downward until he restarted it and resumed flight.

Pettirossie died one year later in a crash at Buenes Aires. Rachele may have met other aviators at the Expo who did not survive the aviation exhibition era.

The American Airmen

For sheer name-dropping among early aviators no person carries more weight than Waldo Dean Waterman (1894-1976). Waterman’s memoirs include encounters with many famous aircraft designers, mechanics, and fliers in the U.S. Waterman had experience building and flying gliders and

powered aircraft by 1910, ultimately spending a few years at North Island at the new base of operations for Glenn Curtiss. There he met many future flying friends including Lt. J.W. McClaskey [- 1953].

Waterman had worked on Hall-Scott engines and for airplane manufacturing companies in the San Francisco area including time spent “at a hanger” close to the Expo during 1915-1916. While there he met up with McClaskey, aircraft designer Warren Eaten [1881-1966], and the Expo’s star flier, Lincoln Beachey [1887-1915].

Beachey was famous for his loops and daring dives at the controls of his “Little Looper” biplane, a Curtiss-type, constructed of wood and fabric. But at the Expo he unveiled his new all-metal monoplane, the 80hp, “Lincoln Beachey Special,” built by the Eaton Brothers in Los Angeles.

When Beachey attempted stunts over the Bay with his “Special” it suffered structural failure, resulting in the crash which claimed his life.

to expectations, so Rachele convinced him to try one of his propellers. He quickly became one of Rachele’s chief endorsers.” Rachele returned to Los Angeles and with his brothers set up their first shop to produce propellers.

One of the first propellers designed by Rachele and his brothers was long, narrow, and tapered at each end. Remo writes, “The altered propeller dynamic allowed the engine to run at increased RPM with greater power output. Because of its configuration, it was soon dubbed, The Toothpick.”

Who Did Rachele Meet at the Expo?

The Panama-Pacific International Exposition ran eleven months and drew tens of thousands of visitors from all over the world. It was a dazzling, immense tour de force of electric lighting, cultural diversity, and the latest scientific technology. Rachele’s employers, brothers, Silas [1890-1916] and Harry Christofferson [1884-1968], designed and flew their own aircraft. At their hangar on the beach, take-offs were made on a short wooden plank runway covering the soft sand. The Christoffersons offered aircraft maintenance as well as a place where aviators and mechanics networked. Rachele was at the hub of where friendships and often business partnerships were formed. So far, neither the Jacuzzi family records nor other references have revealed exactly whom Rachele met. It is possible that he encountered some of the world’s most famous fliers of the time.

INVENTORY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

Waterman later wrote that he had not seen the accident, but that Eaton gave a spare set of the “Special’s” wings to him. With McClosky’s connections at a nearby Navy base they performed stress tests which showed that the “Special’s” construction could not have withstood the pressure of Beachey’s stunts. Perhaps the least surprised was Eaton, who maintained that he never designed the “Special” for stunts. The aviation community was devastated to lose their most famous flier, but the Expo immediately hired young Art Smith [1894-1926] who thrilled spectators with day and night flights.

Rachele’s Club

Rachele’s first (yet un-named) customer is thought to have been connected with the Hall-Scott Motor Company which also had a factory in Los Angeles and later moved to Berkeley. The Jacuzzi brothers relocated close to the new Hall-Scott factory where they were soon an integral part of the Hall-Scott engine testing operation. Their sales brochure lists several propellers, hubs and clubs. The clubs were wooden propellers made strictly for testing aircraft power plants. Rachele wrote, “These test clubs are mounted in the same way as the propeller, and run at full speed. They have no angle, and consequently they can be run in either direction…they

can handle speeds from 1400 to 1600 revolutions per minute.”

By 1917, the Jacuzzi propellers were selling well. When their business declined following WWI they abandoned production of propellers and eventually followed the inventive creativity of Rachele to design the Jacuzzi J-7 monoplane. On a flight with the J-7 in 1921, Giocondo Jacuzzi, then age 26, another passenger, and two pilots were killed in an accident. With the loss of their brother, the family quit the aviation business altogether. From that point on the inventive efforts of the Jacuzzi family focused on pumps and inventions applied to move wind and water, ultimately famed for the Jacuzzi whirlpool spas. Although the name brand was sold, the family founded Jason International in 1982. In an early Jason advertisement Remo Jacuzzi Sr. states, “My company is building the finest spa on the market. I wish I could put my name on it.”

We may one day know if Pettirossi, Waterman, Eaton, McCloskey, Beachey or Smith met

Rachele Jacuzzi only to know him as the “mechanic” during the Expo of 1915. He was indeed a good mechanic, but is also now recognized as the original creative and engineering genius behind “Jacuzzi Brothers, Inc.” Rachele Jacuzzi died in 1937 at the age of 50.
