Cost for the 2014-2015 Academic YearFull Day: 3:30-6:00pm1 day a week: $1,3502 days a week $2,6703 days a week $3,4804 days a week $4,050 Summary of Enrollment Information 2014-2015

All fees are per child - there are no discounts for multiple children in a family.Financial assistance is not available for the JCDS After School Program.In all cases of late pick up, late fees will be assessed at the rate of $1.00/minute. Please be advised that students who are not picked up on time at the end of the school day from their classrooms will be sent to the After School Program, and families will be charged the drop-in rate for the afternoon.Please make your program and club selections carefully, as we will not be able to refund your money once it has been sent in. Spots !ll up quickly and placements are made on a !rst-come !rst-served basis. If a particular day !lls up, we will start a wait-list and you will be noti!ed if a place becomes available. The JCDS After School Program reserves the right to assess late fees of 2% of the overdue balance for payments over 30 days late. If balances remained unpaid for 60 days, your child/ren will be suspended from the After School Program until payments are made.Please submit 10 postdated checks or one check for the full amount, made out to JCDS After School Program. All clubs must be paid in full prior to the start of the session to guarantee a spot for your child.We have limited space for drop ins on a daily basis. If you are in need of After School on a random day, please contact the o"ce no later than 2pm. The cost for this is $18 from 3:30-4:30, and $ for anytime after 4:30pm. This needs to be paid at pickup with a check.

Friday Option

New this year, we would like to o#er a Friday After School option. Due to the fact that Shabbat candle lighting times vary from week to week, the following is the schedule of dates and times that After School will be open. To ensure that this option is available, we will need a minimum of 6 enrolled students. When you apply for this option, please write out a separate check for Friday only. We will inform you when we have met our minimum enrollment needed. The cost per child $800 for the year.

Special After School Programs on Parent-Teacher Conference and Professional Development

On Parent-Teacher Conference and Professional Development days, the building is open but there are no classes. JCDS After School o#ers a special program that provides your children with a fun, safe place to spend the day with friends doing arts & crafts, playing games, music and more. The following is a list of dates and times we will be open and the associated costs. See the form in the registration packet to sign up.

After School Clubs

After School Clubs are o#ered by trimester with approximately 10 meetings per session. Prices remain constant whether the club meets nine or ten times.

You may sign up for more than one club per session. Each club has a limited number of spaces so please sign up early. All spaces are !lled on a !rst come !rst served basis.All clubs must be paid for in full prior to the !rst meeting. The deadline for payment for the session is . Any checks submitted and received after th will incur a late fee of $30.Be aware that over the course of the school year more clubs may be added and you will have a chance to sign your child/ren up for those additional clubs.All checks should be made payable to JCDS After School Program. Please write a separate check for each club.

Please choose clubs carefully, as it is not always possible to switch. All requests to move into a di#erent club must be approved by the After School Director.

Description of JCDS After School Clubs by Day of the Week, 2015

MONDAY

Dungeons & DragonsLed by: Jeremy Warren Grades 4-8 3:30-4:30pm 10 weeksCome spend Monday afternoon as a wizard! Or a ranger, an alchemist, a goblin, or whatever else you can imagine. There’s something sinister stirring under the town, and it will take a team of heroes to defeat it. We’ll tell stories and have adventures, explore ancient ruins and forgotten tombs, and learn some math and statistics as we contemplate whether or not it’s a good idea to use your Rapid Shot modi!er to attack that armored !re elemental. Role-playing games are a great exercise in collaborative improvisational acting and group problem solving, but more importantly, they let you cast lightning bolts at frost giants! All levels welcomed.

Speech Team Grades 6-8 3:30-5:00pm 10 weeksParticipants in the JCDS competitive speech team will choose pieces to learn individually or in pairs, and will prepare them for performances at Middle School tournaments. Tournaments are held on Sundays at various schools around eastern Massachusetts. The students will do warm up activities, play drama games, practice their own and critique others’ performances, and receive individual coaching.

RoboticsLed by: Claire Caine Grades 5-8 3:30-4:30pm 10 weeksBuild and program a Lego robot in our new JCDS after school robotics club. We will work on a series of pre-set robotic challenges during the trimester. On a Sunday in December and May, we will join with the Maimonides robotics club (and possibly with other Day Schools) for a robotics event where each school will showcase their solutions to the challenges and then work together on some impromptu challenges.

Here you will have the chance to learn what it takes to be on a newspaper stands, to write, draw, organize, layout, and publish the JCDS newspaper.

Storyteller and JCDS mom, Andrea Kamens, teaches the art of storytelling and presentation through wordplay, drama, and movement games. Perfect for those who have a dramatic %air, for kids who like to read or be read to, and for kids having trouble with reading who want to be free to approach stories in a new and fun way. Kids who wish can sit back and listen; everyone is valued in the story circle.
