Every member, Every day!

Dear members of AIESEC in Costa Rica,

We are living in quite interesting times nowadays, in the organization, and in the country -we have a new leadership body that is being formed. In my deep belief I see that thesituation has provided us with an opportunity to come out bigger and stronger than neverbefore.

I believe our biggest resource is our members, and we need to start asking ourselves moreoften: does every member of AIESEC in Costa Rica go through a life changing experienceevery day? Are all of our members engaged? Is every member contributing to our success?

I have known members that have walked at night in the rain looking for an internet cafe tomatch one EP, members who struggled to learn English just to have better communication, members in other AIESEC countries who do not have 3 meals per day but work for AIESEC 24hours per day. Imagine a membership which is ready to give it all, a membership which isready to make sacrifices, a membership that would put their heart and soul in what they aredoing. Not because someone told them to, but because they know it matters.

What would this membership be able to achieve?! What would they be able to do in AIESECin Costa Rica? We need to start activating our membership now with the right mindset andvalues.

As much as we love AIESEC, unfortunately AIESEC does not only belong to us. AIESEC belongsto this world - the future of youth leadership! AIESEC promises the world to be THE youthleadership provider. Similarly AIESEC promised Costa Rica to be the most relevant inproviding leadership development for youth in Costa Rica in 2014.

Ambition! Who defines our potential? We have an average of 882,791 young people in CostaRica, how many of them are living the AIESEC experience? As you see we only began toscratch the surface of what our organization is capable of in terms of achieving potential.

There has been a lot of questions asked about how will we achieve our goals, how will weachieve 2015… ‘How will we reach our potential?’ In my opinion this question is notenough, it's not strong enough, it's not fundamental enough. The question that I am invitingyou all to think about is: Why every young person in Costa Rica will want to take an AIESECexperience? And I believe when we are clear about the answer of this question, we will havewhat will get us there to ultimately achieve our potential as AIESEC in Costa Rica.

MY AIESEC

XPI am passionate about… LIFE! Humility and cooperation are key factors in life, we are here to help, and that’s something really really important. You can be the most experienced and brilliant guy on Earth, but if you don't share your knowledge; if you don't help others, you are nothing! So sharing moments, helping people, enjoying the gifts that life gives you and trying to create a better world by giving yourself to others, that’s something I’m really passionate about, cause at the end, knowing someone grew and climbed so high because of your help, is the most rewarding gift you can ever get! I'm very passionate about traveling and photography too. There's a saying I like very much, it says: "traveling is the only thing you buy that makes you richer...” and it's totally true! Getting to know many cultures, ways of thinking, traditions, taste every kind of food, dance all types of music, enjoying all kinds of weather, combine the green with the gray, nature and concrete, taking a bit of every single person you get to know and implement every beautiful thing you learned from each country in your life, that’s the coolest way of growing on large scale, living every moment with a smile. And about photography, what’s more beautiful than capturing those moments in photographs and remembering them from time to time? I guess that for me, is a way of holding on to those memories and remembering how lucky I am…

If I would have superpowers, I would you erase form the

Universe…

It’s funny cause, since little, I’ve always dreamed about having superpowers, specially cause I’m a huge fan of the X-Men! Hahaha! So if I could have superpowers, I think I would erase from the universe the inequality. I believe on embracing diversity. It doesn’t matter if you are boy or girl, if you have dark skin or slanted eyes, if you have a weird accent, or if you like to eat a lot, if you are redhead, blond or brunette, we are the same internally, emotionally, and intellectually! You gottabe accepted by who you are; by how passionate you are about the things you love, by how fiercely you defend your ideas, traditions and culture! If we delete inequality from the world, things will be much easier, wars wouldn’t be necessary and peace would reign on Earth.

The moment in AIESEC that changed the person I was and made me be the person I am today…

There had been many moments; you think you had lived the best of AIESEC, and on every single conference, in every activity you get surprised once again, you learn many new things and grow as a human been even more. I think that if I had to define a specific moment, it would be the final Sunday of NPM. I’m a bit insecure person; there are days when I wake up and I feel very confident in myself, I feel like the coolest dude on Earth and believed I have powerful skills to change the world, and there are days when I feel that I'm not that cool enough, that my contribution is minimal and may not have much potential; so I need a push to get things done. That Sunday, in the last session I received words of people I think are quite brilliant and full of knowledge, people from whom I try to learn everything I can so I can possibly become as cool as them.

This time the words of encouragement and admiration were for me and that was something I could not believe, that the ones I admire trust me and see potential in this humble servant! That moment made me lose all mistrust I had, made me reaffirm that God gave me the ability to impact, and by that, to help everyone I can. So now, every moment I remember with love, every time I’ve help an EP to achieve their dream of helping children, needy, seniors, or nature; each of these situations now I cherish harder, because now I know that the little work I’m making is valuable, because I have transmitted the need of helping others, representing Costa Rica internationally as a peaceful country with huge potential, specially on their youth.

I am passionate about cultures and all that involve them like

gastronomy, religion, politics, art and I like also travelling as a way to understand how the people behave, one also of my biggest passion is the social topics, is because of that I studied Political Sciences. I am a really curious person in general with new is because of that some people call me gypsy, loco, hypster...haha

If I would have superpowers, I would you erase form the Universe…

I will erase pre-judgement, because as a colombian is something that I need to face to. I really feel that you need to know someone from before hand and do not judge because the image of the country or general conceptions. If we take the time to know how the people really are, we can live together in the same compass leaving behind this kinds of thoughts.

When I think back at my experience in Costa Rica, the thingthat makes you smile the most is…

Being part of the new human power generation when the students go getting information about our programs and afterwards they have their photos enjoying their internships and changing others lives and their owns . I really feel identify about it.\

The moment in AIESEC that changed the person I was and made me be the person I am today…

The moment in AIESEC that change my life was my internship, because during the journey you discover what are you capable of and your weaknesses, and also because you need to walk in an unexpected paths, that make the experience more interesting and challenging. Also to get the best to your country to offer to the network. Change people’s conception of culture being an ambassador is amazing.
