Why install an alarm system?In livestock houses with mechanical venti-lation there is a major risk that the animals will suffer harm if the ventilation fails and cannot be restored quickly.

The situation will quickly become critical as no new oxygen is supplied to the house air and the air humidity increases. Addi-tionally, the animals cannot get rid of their excess heat.

Effective and immediate interference by drop-out of the ventilation system is therefore necessary, and this requires a simple, safe and reliable alarm system.

Not only is it rational to protect the ani-mals against harm; but there is also a leg-islation governing on this area. Demands are made for alarm systems in mechani-cally ventilated houses (EU-directive no. 91/629/EEC and 91/630/EEC).

Likewise, the insurance companies make various demands, which must be met before the insurance policy can be accepted.

DOL 2020 is an alarm system combined with three backup thermostats which are primarily used for monitoring the ventila-tion in livestock houses.

Backup thermostatsDOL 2020 can monitor the temperature in one section via a separate temperature sensor and activate extra ventilation in three steps by means of the backup ther-mostats. Or one of the steps could activate a system for high-pressure cooling. High and low temperature alarmDOL 2020 generates an alarm for too low and too high temperature inside the house. The temperature limits are set by means of two adjustment knobs.A sensor for outside temperature is connected to DOL 2020, so it is possible to overrule alarms at high outside tem-perature. The alarm compensates with a “summer rise” of a certain number of degrees by which the inside temperature is allowed to exceed the set alarm limit before triggering an alarm.

DOL 2020 also integrates two digital inputs, which can be used ON/OFF. DOL 2020 is used to generate an alarm for e.g. empty silo, jammed augers, defective oil burner and alarms from the climate computer.

DOL 2020 - combined Alarm and Backup ThermostatAlarmDOL 2020 is equipped with four alarm outputs. Alarm can be given with horn, flashing light, local siren or telephone dial-up. All alarm outputs are activated simultaneously. Acknowledgement for the alarm is given with the key breaker.

Both the DOL 2100 and the DOL 2200 alarm system are available in four variants:

DOL 2100/2200 basic•DOL 2100/2200 fixed-line network•DOL 2100/2200 GSM•DOL 2100/2200 extension module•

DOL 2100/2200 basic is a simple farm alarm with local alarm via either a siren or a flashing light.

DOL 2100/2200 fixed-line network alarms via telephone. The alarm unit requires a connection to a fixed-line network to be established at the farm.

DOL 2100/2200 GSM alarms via telephone. The alarm unit has an integrated GSM module so that it is not necessary to es-tablish a fixed-line network connection.

DOL 2100/2200 extension module is used in connection with one of the three above alarm units in case ten additional alarm inputs are needed.

Basically, DOL 2200 differs from DOL 2100 in the way that DOL 2200 is equipped with a graphic display and has an integrated thermostat unit.

Monitoring ten sections or...DOL 2100/2200 can monitor the tempera-ture in ten sections. Alternatively, each input can be set to ON/OFF so that it can indicate alarm condition in case of empty silo, jammed auger, defective oil burner etc. DOL 2100 requires an external ther-mostat unit for connection of temperature sensors, whereas temperature sensors can be connected directly to the alarm unit for DOL 2200.

Operation and surveyThe design of DOL 2100/2200 is simple and logic in the way that information can easily be accessed and data easily changed.

The DOL 2100 is set by means of a digital display on the front of the alarm unit. DOL 2200 is equipped with a graphic display indicating the temperature and alarm status of each input. The tempera-ture course can be displayed with curves and it is possible to see the maximum and minimum temperature values.

All operation of the DOL 2200 alarm unit is done on the front so that the farmer is free of e.g. thermostats requiring setup in each section.

AlarmThe alarm can be graduated and altered from section to section. Several alarm indicators can be connected - e.g. siren, flashing light or telephone. The alarm call can be made “soft” - which means that it is shown only when enquiring which alarms have occurred.

Voice alarmAs standard, the DOL 2100/2200 fixed-line network and GSM are connected to a voice computer, which gives a voice message in case of an alarm. The alarm is made via the megaphone supplied by the manufacturer.

The alarm call can be made to several telephones simultaneously or in a certain order. Calls can be acknowledged so that the alarm stops. All functions can be remote-controlled by telephone.

Compensation for high out-side temperatureThe DOL 2200 is connected to a sensor for outside temperature so that it is pos-sible to overrule alarms at a high outside temperature. A “summer rise” of a certain number of degrees can be entered by which the inside temperature is allowed to exceed the outside temperature before triggering the alarm. This summer rise can be set separately for each input.

Emergency ventilation - follow-up on alarmWhen the stocking density is high, an alarm call is insufficient when it concerns ventilation malfunction. Here it is necessary to guarantee the well-being of the animals and the production by establishing a sys-tem for emergency ventilation.
