Whats Happening In Hollywood # 12
Seven girls from Hollywood 12 enjoyed a great 2012 Grand Assembly,
June 21 through 26th. We brought three new girls with us Kaitlyn Jackson,
Klairissa Putt and her newly initiated little sister, Taylor. Kaitlyn, Klairissa
and Ansley Rae Page were in the Grand Choir and Aubrey Louge served as a
Grand Page. Our Worthy Advisor Jordan Page was recommended for a Grand
Representive and will serve that position for the upcoming year. We had fun
and made many memories. We missed Zhijian Doylet this year, especially
since we finally got her talking last year, but we know she is having some
adventures in the jungles of Ecuador with her family. We would like to thank
all the Lodges who helped us earn money, by allowing us to help serve their
dinners.
We would like to give a special Thank you to J Dewey Hawkins Lodge,
Doric lodge and the Grotto for helping to sponsor the girls who needed extra
money to be able attend.

The Brothers of Doric Lodge No 140 successfully captured the traveling
Gavel from our Brothers at West Broward Lodge and WM Burnett
welcomes you to attend one of the upcoming meetings to view the gavel in
its new home. Doric Lodge meets on the first and third Tuesday of each
month, (next meeting is June 5th) so rally your lodge to visit our brothers to
collect the Gavel for your own lodge. Please also remember a courtesy call
the lodge (954-612-3175) to assure enough food is on hand for your visit.

My Brother's,
Thank you the warm reception as your District Deputy Grand Master. I
am truly fortunate to serve the mighty 33rd!
The Grand Masters message to the craft this year is one of renewal and
responsibility. Our slogan for the year is "Be a leader, Make it Happen". As
Masters and Wardens of lodges we are charged with care of the lodge for the
brief time we occupy the position. Our responsibility as leaders is to leave the
organization better then we received it. The brethren of old left the craft to us.
They built lodges, the Masonic home and funded endowments, all for future
generations. Well done my brothers. You left a us a fraternity built on friend-
ship, morality and brotherly love.
My question to you my brothers and fellow leaders of the craft is, "Will
we leave the fraternity in better shape than it was given to us?" I challenge
you to do just that. Please rise above the temporary struggles we sometimes
have and remember our obligations to each other. All of us are hardly perfect,
in many ways still "rough ashlars". Yet
we all share a common experience in
Masonry. Let that be the cement that
bind us together as a "Band of Brothers"
and abandon our private quarrels.

Brethren,
Due to the July 4th holiday, the District School of Instruction will be held
on the following Wednesday, July 11th. I am also pleased to announce we
have requested and received permission to add a second monthly date for
Open Books. The initial one will be held on Monday, July 16th (5-8pm) and
from then on, it will be on the 3rd Monday of every month from there on. I
want to thank Doric Lodge for making their facility available to us without
their cooperation it would not be possible.
Myself and R:.W:. Al McDonald, Zone 9 Committee on Work hope that
by making the books accessible a second time during the month it will afford
them a greater opportunity view the written word. This will allow the breth-
ren additional opportunities to not only receive instruction, but for hearing
proficiency card examinations as well. It is hoped that you will take advan-
tage of this opportunity as it is for your benefit.
This year Grand Lodge has challenged the District Instructors to estab-
lish a Degree team in the District for the purpose of competing Statewide
Ritual Competition. I have accepted that challenge and am committed to
making it happen. If you are interested in joining the District Degree Team,
please inform myself or R:.W:. Al McDonald.
