Hurricane Hilda Highlights:

~Hilda has strengthened into a hurricane with

maximum sustained winds of 80 mph as of

Friday afternoon. Hilda originally formed as

Tropical Depression Ten-E late Wednesday

night, and then became a tropical storm on

Thursday.

~The center of Hilda was more than 1,200

miles east-southeast of Hilo, Hawaii, as of Friday

afternoon

~Some additional strengthening is forecast

into this weekend as Hilda moves to the west-

northwest.

~Hilda is expected to remain out over open

water over the next five days, eventually turning

more towards the northwest. Increasing wind

shear is likely about three or four days from

now, which would cause Hilda to weaken.

~It remains too soon to tell whether Hilda will

impact Hawaii sometime mid-late next week.

~The latest thinking suggests Hilda may turn

well northeast of Hawaii and weaken, due to

aforementioned wind shear.

We survived Hurricane/Tropical

Storm Guillermo. (whew!) Today

was nice and sunny so everyone

was out in droves. The weather has

improved since the Tropical Storm

passed the Hawaiian Island chain,

during which time parts of the

island experienced rain and a little

bit of wind gusts. We are fortunate

to have escaped another storm

unscathed. Let’s hope the same can

be said about another one headed

our way, Hurricane Hilda.

Rex also assisted with cleaning the lobby and porte cochere roof. Elizabeth worked on

patching areas of the hallway wallpaper that needed repairs.

Top L to R: On the oceanside of the lobby building SGS planted several miniature Hawaiian Schefflera (He’e). Near the

porte cochere more spider lilies were planted to add more color and fullness. Coconut tree trimmers came this week

to trim coconut branches and maturing nuts near the parking lot area. They become a hazard if allowed to get larger.

Bottom L to R: Hibiscus, croton, and red ti leaves were planted along the driveway, near the 30-minute parking stalls.

SGS installed red cinder to finish the look. The new plants add texture and color along that curb. More compost was

applied to a few hot spots on our lawn. The grass needs additional TLC in certain areas due to the hot summer sun.

Why is your neck tight? And why is there that nagging pain

between your shoulder blades? You probably already realize it's

because nearly everything most of us do in modern life has us

sitting with our arms in front of us and peering forward at

something. Your neck is tight because your shoulders are rolled

forward and your head is forward most of the time.

the muscles in the back of your neck are in a constant battle to

keep your head from rolling off the top of the spinal column.

Some of the muscles recruited in this battle are attached to the

top of the shoulder blade, so the shoulders are dragged up giving

you, as the massage therapist joke goes, shoulder earrings.

Meanwhile having the shoulders so high and your arms in front of

you to do things causes your shoulders to roll forwards, and your

pectorals to always be contracting. This binds the shoulder blade

forward so you cannot raise your arms properly.

time, the shoulder blades are constantly stretched apart across

the back. The poor rhomboids between the spine and shoulder

blade just knot up in self defense. Meanwhile in front, that

drooping head is in perfect position to be looking at the floor
