The Golden Rule
Do you treatothers the way youwould like others totreat you?
Do you treat themwith respect, kindness, patience, trust and love--all ofthe above.
When others dosomething to you, don’t dwell onit. Forgive them andforget it-- This iscalled the goldenrule.
It’s in the Bibleand it says “treatothers like you wouldlike to be treated.”
Wouldn’t this be adifferent world ifeveryone would readthe Golden Rule inthe Bible and dowhat it says to do.
God put it therebecause He dependson you.
He really does! It’s up to you to
obey.“Do unto others as
you would haveothers do unto you.”
The Golden Rule isfor me and it’s foryou.

Aug. 3 Is NationalWatermelon Day
By Emily BeardThis month I am writing about the
health benefits of eating watermelonbecause Aug. 3 is NationalWatermelon Day!
As many of you know, keeping yourbody properly hydrated is importantfor your everyday health. An easy wayto do this is by drinking water;however, eating foods that have highwater content can also help!Interestingly, watermelon is 92percent water!
High water content is one of thereasons that fruits and vegetableshelp you feel full and is also why youare able to eat large amounts withouta lot of calories. As far as fruits go,watermelon is one of the lowest incalories—only 46 calories per cup!
There are five common types ofwatermelon: seeded, seedless, mini(thumb size), yellow and orange.
Health Benefits of Watermelon:• Protects against kidney damage• Reduces wrinkles and age spots
on the skin• Lowers body temperature and
prevents heat stroke• Lowers blood pressure• Prevents cancer• Improves heart function• Protects eyes and prevents
macular degenerationLycopene is the powerful
carotenoid antioxidant that giveswatermelon its pinkish/reddish coloras well as all of its health benefits.High blood levels of lycopene havebeen proven to prevent againsta stroke!
Keep in mind:Health professionalssay that you must“Eat melon alone orleave it alonebecause it will makeyour stomach groan.”The trick is to haveno food 30 minutesbefore or after eatingmelon.
Most people throwaway the watermelonrind, but next time, try putting it in ablender with somelime for a healthy, refreshing treat!
While many peopleprefer seedlessvarieties ofwatermelon, theblack seeds areedible and actuallyquite healthy. Theycontain iron, zinc, protein and fiber! Sothe next time you findyourself wanting tobuy seedlesswatermelon, try aseeded varietyinstead! You will gaineven more healthbenefits!
