Hope you're having a good weekend.

I've attached some data on the year 10 module one results. We were expecting slightly lower than usual results and unfortunately that is what happened. The main reasons behind this are:

• weaker cohort• two NQT’s having four year 10 classes, as they have no core

year 11 classes• too many D grades

I think the NQT’s and other staff are receiving a lot of support but have struggled at ks4 and we really need to focus on staff development if the results are going to remain as high as previous years. At the moment, I'm worried that Sheila and I are getting a little stretched with everything in year 11 and now the year 10 resit classes. Hopefully, we can still continue to focus on developing staff teaching.

This is factually

incorrect.

Five Areas for Transformation...

Students• Pledges (Outwood Grange)• School Diplomas (John Madejski Academy)• Organisation• Leadership and Role Models• Celebration and Incentives• Parental engagement to raise achievement• Knowing where they are and how they can

improve – ownership of learning and progress• Default achievement culture

Staffing• Structures– Pastoral/Academic Divide– Standing agenda items– Meeting Structure– Teacher vs tutor

• Support Staff (to raise achievement)• Academic Tutoring – rhetoric or reality?• Default Settings and Standard Operating Procedures• Evaluate the impact of every TLR in the school

Support Staff to Raise Achievement

• SEN – promote level 2 for all?• Science technicians – support delivery?• Examinations Officer – driving data?• Mentors – what impact? How

empowered?• Impact of “pastoral managers” now?• Hard to reach specialists – not sapping all

CurriculumWhat does your current curriculum currently

produce?• How many students will leave year 11 with

less than 8 GCSE grades?• How many will leave with less than 8 good

grades?• How many students make 3 (or more ) levels of

progress in English, Maths and Science?

Curriculum 2• Starting early – year 7 – what is the earliest age

for a formal qualification in your school?• Core subjects – easiest to modify– Bandings/groupings

• Optional Subjects• Speed of implementation• www.vision2learnforschools.co.uk healthy

eating• Key skills suite

New Technologies

The Fifth ElementCulture, Attitudes and Ethos

• What does “our school” mean to you?• What is the intellectual learning capital

within your school?• How do new staff provide a fresh pair of

eyes?• Do you do lots of things (because you

think you should) or a few things (very well)?

Abandonment• Not about stopping things that don’t work • Which things will you stop doing that are

already good but will not support getting to excellence?

• How do you introduce new ideas etc?

Your PostcardPledge

What is the best idea that you have gained today and

will implement back at your school?

Thanks for Listening
