2018 YMCA Dodgeball Tournament

The Chambersburg Memorial YMCA held its annual Dodge Ball Tournament on Saturday,

February 24th. The annual tournament featured two divisions this year; Co-Ed and Open.

Each division registered five teams representing local businesses, professional

organizations, colleges, and community social connections. The Co-Ed division was made

up of teams Smackdown, Channel 4 New Team, Ninja Revenge, Comeback Kids and Dick’s

Cabinetry & Flooring. The teams of Under Dodgers, The 11/30 Network, Ballsagna, Wilson

1 and Wilson 2 made up the Open division.

Following division play, all teams entered a single-elimination playoff bracket respective to

their division. The afternoon began, and the friendly competition ensued with the end

goals of all teams were to stay safe, have fun and ultimately gain the title of champs.

The Co-Ed bracket began play first with Dick’s Cabinetry & Flooring taking the match over

Channel 4 News team placing them against the number one seed of team Smackdown. The

2nd and 3rd place team match-up between Comeback Kids and Ninja Revenge maxed out at

5 games with Comeback Kids taking the final to head into the championship. Team

Smackdown’s number one ranking followed suit and they moved passed Dick’s Cabinetry to

earn a place in the final match. Smackdown kept their level of play rolling and took the

championship match over Comeback Kids three games to zero.

Team Smackdown consisted of players Shane Martinckick, Jason Goetz, Brandon Caldwell,

Matt Jones, Tyler Diffenderfer, Jess Miller, Katlyn Clutter, Kat Tennis, Laurie Ruby and

captained by Scott Barkman. Congrats team Smackdown!

The Open division started the playoff bracket with teams Wilson 1 opposing The 11/30

Network. Wilson 1 gave it their best shot, but The 11/30 Network pushed passed and

entered the second round. Ballsagna earned 3rd seed and faced off against 2nd seed Wilson

2. The semi-final round featured tough play and took all five games to have Wilson 2

taking the win and securing a championship match placement. Top seed The Under

Dodgers moved passed The 11/30 Network and were set to take on Wilson 2. The

championship match took four games until team Wilson 2 prevailed and grabbed the title.

Team Wilson 2 was led by captain Aaron Hoke and fellow teammates were Evan Hoke,
