Volunteer Expectations
• Sell tickets on some great prize packages
• Help the customer visualize the possibilities of winning
• Ambassador of the Stampede Lotteries and our service clubs
• Have fun, enjoy the experience,
• Be engaging, friendly, respectful and attentive to the Stampede customers
• Pass along information on what the service clubs support in the community
Volunteer No No’s
• Alcohol and/or cannabis consumption before or during shifts, is NOT PERMITTED
Things you should know
• Who can buy & win … as long as you are in Alberta when you purchase the ticket, you can win
• Purchasers DO NOT need a receipt to win.
• Raffle tickets cannot be sold to persons less than 18 years of age
• Lotteries in Canada & Alberta are tax free. Outside of Alberta, it is up to their home jurisdiction
• We CANNOT split packages between two customers (NEW THIS YEAR)
• You can have two names on the ticket but only one phone number & legally the first name is the
winner. The way you get two names on a ticket is to put name #1 in the “First Name” field and
name #2 in the “Last Name” field
• Do not turn your back on your iPad. Keep it in sight at all times.
• Plug in your iPad during slow times to ensure it’s fully charged when it gets busy.
• Store the iPad in the cool & shady locations, heat may cause the iPad to shut down.
Check In Procedure
• Volunteer reports to the respective office (Rotary/Kinsmen),
located in the lower level of the Big Four building,
suggested check in 30 minutes before your shift starts
• Shift Captain / Cashier marks the Volunteer as arrived
into SLIMS, records their booth & gives them their float
• Shift Captain / Cashier checks in the volunteer
into the new Selling (ticketless) Software
• Provides the Volunteer with a ID Card with a
• bar code in a lanyard & apron
• Count & confirm your float, get your lunch, use the
bathroom & leave to arrive at your booth on time
At the Booth• Volunteer gets to their selling location (assigned booth)
• Find the iPad assigned to you, if it is not on then turn it on
• Volunteer presses the “Menu” to find “Volunteer Login / Logout” button, tap the login button
• Scan your ID to open the program (or punch in your bar code number). The program will
automatically open to the sales screen for the respective service club
• Your name will appear in the top right
corner & your printer will print off a
small slip with your name on it to
confirm you are in the correct booth
• Click on the service club logo to begin.
• There will be a menu of all of the ticket packages you can sell
• Tap on the prize to further show the ticket numbers and prices.

purchase the new Showdown 50/50 tickets!

to the purchaser and confirm it’s
correct.

showing as well as a total cost.

back and make corrections if needed.
View Cart Screen
• You can manually input their information or you can tap
“Scan Drivers License” to go to the scan page.
• If they have purchased tickets on line in the past 3 years, you
can input a phone number or email and click “Lookup.” If their
information is in the system it will populate.
• Required information we need: is a full name & a phone
number, an email will allow us to send them a E-receipt for
the purchase & ticket numbers.
• You can also turn the iPad to the purchaser and ask them to
input their information if that would be quicker.
Purchaser Info Screen
Scanning the Driver’s license
• Speeds up data entry, eliminates errors in names and addresses
• Only information that would need manual entry would be phone number & email addresses
• If a buyer doesn’t feel comfortable presenting their driver’s license – NO PROBLEM – it is NOT
required and is ONLY provided as an option for convenience purposes
• Note where the iPad camera is and place the
bar in the camera field with the red line in the
middle and the bar filling the screen.
• Currently we can scan Alberta Driver’s licenses.
Out of province buyers or those without a
driver’s license will require manual entry.
• Show the completed screen to the purchaser & confirm it’s
correct.
• Then tap the “Pay” button to continue to the payment screen.
• At any time you can go back & make adjustments.

hand the Moneris pin pad to the purchaser, have them

• The Area Sales Managers can assist the Volunteer in preparation to close up
Sales Office Checkout
• Volunteer will need to separate their float & then sort their cash by denomination
• Volunteer presents their float, cash & lanyard to the Shift Captain/Cashiers
• Cashier marks the Volunteer as “Shift Ended” in SLIMS
• Cashier reconciles the Volunteer’s cash to the sales in the Ticketless Software
• Hopefully, the Volunteer has balanced
• System will generate a sign off slip for both the volunteer and the person checking out
• The Volunteer will sign the sales sheet and at that time is free to go
with the Rotary and Kinsmen appreciation
for a job well done!
Sales Tactics & Tips
• Start with “Would you like to buy tickets on everything or are you
looking for an individual prize?”
• If they say “everything” tell them about the Super 4X Combo.
• If they say an individual prize (Dream Home, Rainbow pack, etc.)
select that prize on your iPad
• Select the ticket package they want, mention the Showdown 50/50
• Make sure the buyer has all the tickets they want prior to going to
the cart.
We would like to make you aware of our
“AREA SALES MANAGERS”.
They are out there on the grounds to assist you “the Volunteer”.
If you are having issues with the technology look for these people.
It doesn’t matter if they are Rotarians or Kinsmen / Kinettes
we are there to help all of the volunteers.
We are in this together, as a team we are much stronger
& can accomplish much more.
