ImplicaFons  for  organizaFons

•  The  transformaFon  towards  using  new  digital  technologies  (e.g.,  social  media,  mobile,  analyFcs  or  embedded  devices)  will  become  criFcal  to  many  organizaFons  in  a  wide  range  of  industries  within  the  next  two  years  (Fitzgerald,  Kruschwitz,  Bonnet,  &  Welch,  2013).

Role  of  gatekeepers

•  Internet  technologies  have  dramaFcally  altered  how  knowledge  workers  source  and  share  their  knowledge  as  the  gatekeeper  role—bridging  internal  and  external  knowledge—is  more  distributed  and  linked  to  the  use  of  technology  (Whelan,  Teigland,  Donnellan,  &  Willie,  2010).
