AccordingtoListverse.com,alawyerfromNorthCarolinapurchasedaboxofexpensivecigarsandinsuredthemagainstflooding,stormdamageand–ofallthings–fire.

Needlesstosay,hisinvestmentwent…upinsmokewithinamonth–afterwhichthelawyerfiledaclaimwithhishomeownersinsurancecompany,statingthathewasowedcompensationbecause“thecigarswerelostinaseriesofsmallfires.”

Theinsurerrefusedtopay,assuming(correctly)thatthemanhadsmokedthepackhimself.Ajudgeruled,however,thatsincetheinsurerhadneverstatedwhatwasconsideredtobe“unacceptable”fire,thecompanydid,infact,owehim$15,000toreplacehisproperty.
