On Friday 7th November, 2014,McDonald’s launched HAPPY inKuwait. HAPPY is the ambassador for

the Happy Meal and will take its place in theMcDonald’s family alongside RonaldMcDonald, as an educational character thatpromotes healthy options for kids. To cele-

brate the launch, an event was held at theMcDonald’s branch in Sabah Al Salam from4pm to 8pm.

“The launch of HAPPY in Kuwait intro-duces a fun character that children canengage with and learn from. At the sametime, HAPPY joins McDonald’s as an ambas-sador to promote a healthy and activelifestyle for children, informing parents ofthe healthy choices available with theHappy Meal. We are very pleased to haveHAPPY join the McDonald’s family in Kuwait,and we are confident that children andadults alike will love our newest member,”

commented Sherif Coutry, MarketingDirector at McDonald’s Kuwait.

The event at the Sabah Al Salem branchwas an evening of fun-filled activities for thechildren and the whole family, with HAPPYbeing featured as the central character.

Games included a life-sized board game, aHAPPY puzzle, a selfie booth and the HAPPYjump, with McDonald’s long-time brandambassador, Ronald McDonald, taking partin all the fun. Families received points for par-ticipating in the activities, which they were

able to redeem for prizes. “Families are veryimportant to us at McDonald’s and HAPPY,along with Ronald McDonald, will encouragefamilies to spend time together, as well as actas a reminder of the wholesome choices weare promoting for children,” added Coutry.

Three experts from the global Mindshare team alsoshared in the day, including Liam MacManus from “RiskingEverything in Real-Time,” which examined the GlobalPlanning Director’s success in the renowned Nike “RiskEverything” campaign, as well as Global Head of StrategyTim Elton and Managing Partner of Invention SeanJefferson in “The Media Plan of the Future: How Any BrandCan be Agile.”

American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE), Kuwait’s premiervoluntary, non-profit making Health, Safety andEnvironmental organization, strives to provide professional

guidance, training, consultancy and resources to the industrial andsocial sectors in the region. The fourth Executive Committee Meetingof American Society of Safety Engineer (ASSE) - Kuwait Chapter washeld on 28 October 2014 at Kohinoor Banquet Hall in Fahaheel. Inthe welcome address; Mohammed Riaz Shareef, Chapter Presidentappraised that the Chapter activities has gone in his full pace afterthe Summer Vacations and Eid Holidays. He also informed that theprogram organized by WISE Committee; exclusively participated bywomen; was well appreciated by the community.

In his address; Fadhel Al-Ali, Chairman - ASSE Kuwait Chapter,commended the activities conducted by the chapter during themonth of October. The progress of chapter activities and the finan-cial details were presented by the Chapter Treasurer and ActgSecretary Dinesh Dutta. A delegation of ASSE-Kuwait Chapter visitedMohammed Hussain, CEO - Equate to explore the opportunities formutual beneficial partnership. The delegation consisted Fadhel Al-Ali, Chairman, Golamari Sampath Reddy, Chapter Vice President andDinesh Dutta, Chapter Treasurer & Actg. Secretary.

The progress of Annual Plans of various sub-committees werereviewed during the meeting: Training Committee Head, SanjayJaiswal highlighted that the training programs including NEBOSHIGC, SCBA certification training are planned for the members; as perthe training need assessment survey conducted among the workers.Membership Committee Head, Muvala Ramu updated the member-ship status, membership renewal status. An ID card is being plannedto issue to all members who hold a valid ASSE membership.

Occupational Health and Environment Committee Head, JigneshShah appraised that workshop on “Managing Waste” will be conduct-ing in the month of December 2014. Technical Committee Head,Ritesh Gupta briefed about the Technical meet on the Bow TieAnalysis scheduled for on October 29, 2014. Women in SafetyEngineering (WISE) Committee Head, Janet Najare appraised thecommittee on the First Aid Awareness for Housewives conducted on16th October. A similar session is planned on How to use FireExtinguishers exclusively for ladies.

Outreach Committee Head, Satya Narayana briefed about theoutreach activities including Defensive Driving program conductedfor the drivers of M/s HOT Engineering and Contracting Company.Publications Committee Head, Sunil N Sadanadan briefed about thenewsletter updates on the social networking websites like Facebook,Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn etc. Articles on HSE related topics frommembers are requested for publishing in the newsletter. TheExecutive Committee informed that ASSE Kuwait Chapter will estab-lishing an Exhibition Booth for the upcoming Technical Conferenceorganized by Tamilnadu Engineers Forum. The Executive Committeealso informed that members will be participated in the conference asASSE-KC representatives.

The Executive Committee approved the two new awards one forEnvironment and the second for Corporate Social Responsibilityamong the GCC HSSE Excellence Awards-2015. It was approved toconduct a training on CPR and FA in Arabic for the benefit of teach-ers of Jabriya School. The meeting concluded with the Vote of Thanksby Chapter Vice President, Golamari Sampath Reddy; who acclaimedthe voluntary efforts of the core committee and the subcommitteemembers and requested to continue the same efforts for keepingthe society activities high.

An “Incredible India - a Journey through States” presentedthrough a vast variety of dance forms as well as fasci-nating display of handicrafts was organized under the

guidance of Dr Gargi Jain, Spouse of Indian Ambassador toKuwait, in the 350-seat Indian Embassy Auditorium onNovember 8. Sixteen Indian schools in Kuwait participated in thisevent. The objective was to highlight the rich cultural heritageof India. Number of Indian companies showcased their prod-ucts, included Malabar Gold, Sanskriti Fashion, Girnar Tea,Rasna Juice and India Heritage.

A raffle draw and door prize distribution at this event weredone by spouses of Ambassadors of the US, China, Japan,Russia and UNDP. The first prize in the competition, whichwas a tie, was bagged jointly by the Indian CommunitySchool, Amman Branch and Carmel School, Khaitan. The sec-ond prize went to the United Indian School, Abbasiya, andthe third prize to the Gulf Indian School, Fahaheel.

The dance troupe from Jabriya Indian School, Jabriya hadnovel participation of students from Lebanon, Iran and

Bangladesh, in addition to Indian students. Salmiya IndianModel School entered the competition at a short notice evenwithout a music teacher. The Indian Community School,Junior Branch merited special praise for a splendid perform-ance despite being very young in age. The national anthems

of India and Kuwait were played by the band of the GulfIndian School. The event was a stupendous success as it wasattended by a cross-section of prominent Kuwaiti ladies andother embassies and international organizations accredited toKuwait.
