This beginning of April we continue our journey through Lent,
preparing ourselves for Easter Sunday and the resurrection of our
Savior, Jesus Christ. Our Holy Father, Pope Benedict, calls all
Christians to a “renewed witness to the resurrection of Christ” and
stresses “the need of the world to encounter Him and to know Him
as true God and true man.”
Our faculty and staff are blessed to be able to share this very
special time of year with you and your children. We hope that
through weekly Masses, Eucharistic Adoration, Stations of the
Cross, religion classes and the almsgiving we have participated in
through the rice bowls for Catholic Relief Services, we have all
drawn closer to Christ and taken the time to reflect on His great
sacrifice so that we may be granted eternal life. We hope that you
can join us on Wednesday, April 4th for our last school Mass be-
fore the Easter break.
May the joy of the Risen Christ renew
you and fill you and your family with much
peace and happiness. Happy Easter from
our faculty and staff.
Yours in Christ,
Dennis Mullahy

We are very pleased to report that state lawmakers agreed to a 2012-13 State Budget that includes the restoration of the Comprehensive Atten-dance Policy reimbursement formula for Catholic schools. The budget also includes a $20 million increase in reimbursement funding and a process for beginning to address the past-due reimbursement to our schools. Much of the credit for this accomplishment goes to each of you who took the time to respond to our action alerts. The most recent action alert generated nearly 20,000 e-mail messages to the Governor and legislators urging that the CAP formula be restored. You should be proud knowing that, in work-ing together, we achieved this critically important objective.

I will be sending physical and immunization forms home
with report cards for NEXT YEARS required physicals and
immunizations in order for parents to have these forms as
they make doctors appointments.
PHYSICALS New York State Education Law requires that each student receive a physi-
cal when entering a school district for the first time and again in grades K,
2, 4, and 7. Any physical exam during the twelve months prior to the com-
mencement of the school year that the physical is required in is acceptable.
ALL REQUIRED PHYSICALS ARE DUE BY OCTOBER 1. Dental
forms are not required at this time. If your child has a physical scheduled
this spring, physical forms can be turned in ANYTIME before the end of
the school year or during the summer. Please mark correspondence to the
attention of the school nurse. If your child receives medication at school, a
new written doctors order and parent permission is needed each year and
can be obtained in the spring but have the doctor write that the order is for
the next school year.
IMMUNIZATIONS
All incoming 6th graders who are 11 years old need to have proof of Tdap
(tetanus, diptheria, acellular pertussis) immunization, as required by
New York State, PRIOR to entering school in September. 10-year-old
students who are entering 6th grade will not be required to receive Tdap
vaccine but will be tracked by the school nurse and must be immunized
when they turn 11 years old.
Please turn in any health related paperwork directly to the health office.
Please call the health office with any concerns or questions.
