Cooler temperatures are moving out and warmer
temperatures are moving in. We are getting calls about
irrigation systems and when they will be turned on. We will
begin start ups the week of April 19th. If you have an inside
controller unit, we will be calling you to schedule a time that
is convenient for you. Last fall, we sent out irrigation
contracts for those who would like to be automatically on the
list for irrigation startup. We had a tremendous response thus we have a full list of
systems to work though. If you are unsure, call to make sure you are on the list.

FUN FACTS ABOUT LANDSCAPE IRRIGATION
Water in the early morning or evening. If you sprinkle your lawn under the hot midday sun, you’ll lose as much as 30% of your water to evaporation.
Several short watering sessions are better than a single long one. Lawns can only absorb water so fast. It’s better to water your lawn for three 10 minute sessions-with each session a half-hour apart-than it is to water steadily for 30 minutes and cause run-off.
85% of all landscape problems are directly related to over watering. A properly designed and operated irrigation system can reduce water use by 20% or more each year.
Place plants with high water requirements in areas that receive a lot of water naturally, like drainage ways, depressions, or at the bottom of hills.

and chemical for your beds as well. We will come out to measure your
lawn and/or beds and give you a free quote.

Recipe Corner
Aright, I’m not getting any responses
from my recipes, so I’ll change it up,
here’s a yummy recipe for this month.
1 package yellow cake mix
2 packages instant vanilla pudding
2 packages (8 ounces each) cream
cheese
2 cups milk
1 large can crushed pineapple, drained
2 or 3 bananas, sliced
Non-dairy whipped topping (such as
Cool Whip)
Maraschino cherries or sliced fresh
strawberries
Walnuts
Bake cake according to package
instructions in a 9- by 13-inch pan.
Cool on a rack.
Combine pudding mix, cream cheese
and milk and mix until smooth.
Split cooled cake into two layers.
Spread half of the pudding mixture on
the bottom layer. Cover with crushed
pineapple.
Place second layer of cake on top of
the pineapple and top with the rest of
the pudding mixture. Top with banana
slices.
Cover with whipped topping and
decorate with cherries or strawberries
and walnuts.
Makes about 16 servings.
Send us your favorite recipe, we will post it in an upcoming newsletter.
Use mulch in gardens, around shrubs and trees, in
planting beds, and in borders.
Mulches cover and cool the soil and discourage
evaporation, weed growth, and erosion.

Do you Have Houseplants?
Houseplants will react to longer days and brighter light
at this time by putting out new growth. The end of this
month is a good time to pinch them back to generate
new growth and to thicken them. You can then begin
fertilizing again with a dilute solution of soluble
houseplant food.
Turn your houseplants a quarter turn each week to
make sure all sides of the plant receive adequate light,
and to keep the shape of the plant balanced.
Mist or spray your houseplants to clean away the
winter’s dust, prevent Spider Mites
and add a little humidity.
Remain vigilante in watching for insects
and pests. It is much easier to win a 'bug
war' if you are aware of the infestation in
it's early stages.
