Paul Chandler’s Monthly Newsletter From Castanhal, Brazil September 2008  Ok, what a month! Let’s start from the beginning. I started out the month going to Belem with 75% of the Gregory Family to get my visa fine paid for. Before when we where at the Federal Police they said for me to come back a few days before I left Brazil, so we did, 9 days to be exact. When we got to the Federal Police they told me that I had to come back 8 days before I left Brazil (you can im agine the frustrat ion). So the Gregory Men and I went to Pizza Hut. Later in the week, half of the Gregory’s and I return and I was able to get everything ta ken care of, Praise God! Thursday September 4 I met with Sr. Pastor Vilton and we talked about my return to Brazil and working with PAZ full-time. It was a very productive meeting and Pastor Vilton said he look forward to me returning. Friday September 5 there was another Gringo Party for the American Missionary in Castanhal. It w as a great time talking and worshiping. (Photo: A TADEL Se rvice.) Saturday Septem ber 5 I played in the Worship Ban d for the last time. It was a great time and I am missing the band members. Sunday I h ad my last cheesy-egg-bacon lunch with the Trezise. I really enjoyed my time with all of the T rezise. Monday and Tuesday I spent g etting things packed and said g ood-bye to friends. At TADEL Tuesday night Pastor Vilton prayed for me, I was really touched by the love that I received from the congregation at Igreja da Paz. We, the Trezise Fam, Micah, Rosely, and I left at about 6:30AM for the Belem Airport on Wednesday the 10 th . It was a bittersweet trip in to Belem. I got all checked in at th e airpor t and spent sometime s aying good-bye to my friends and the family. Walking through the security checkpoint was very emotionally hard for me. (Photo: Trezise Fam and I before I left.) TAM Flight 8076 took-off an hour and half late and was again delayed in Manuas about the same time. Though I made it into Miami only 45 minutes late. Once again I had problems with my US Passport and had to go to Passport Holding for about 30 minutes. And once again I asked what the issue was and they had n o idea and g ave me paperwork to send in. I spent the evening with Abdy and Marie Sellas (Abdy is a Pastor with a Miami Vineyard Church). On September 11, I woke up and Abdy took me to Ft Lauderdale Airport for my flight back to Columbus.  All my bags and I arrived in Colu mbus, Ohi o a little late but glad to be done traveli ng. Ernie an elder from VCKC picked me up and took me to Al & Robin H. house. There I got to meet up with my home-group and had a wonderful evening sharing with them about my trip. The next evening, Friday, I was admitted to Knox Community Hospital with severe abdominal pains. Long story short a couple of days l ater I was transferred to OSU Medical Center for more tests. No one could find the problem with me, though the Doctors were more concerned with where I had just come from. So I was discharged and spent the rest of the week recouping at the Helser’s. (Photo: CMH before landing.) On Sunday September 28 I gave my presentat ion to VCKC. I was a little nervous but it went well. What am I doing now? That is a very good question. I am preparing different things to get ready to retu rn to Brazil. I am arranging to speak a different churches, being tutored in Portuguese, working on my “Religious Visa” and all that entails, and some other projects. I am currently not working, but I am in the process of a couple jobs. The biggest project is finding financial partners. My monthly budget is $1900.00 and my start-up budget is $9,000.00 (this includes travelin g, setting up an apartment, and othe r things).
