Principal’s Report Two of our Year 5 boys, Rory Thornton and Sam Morrow, were very busy last week, not only did they participate in the Year 5/6 excursion, the boys finished the week as part of our Aspire Me School Spectacular excursion. Along with 36 other students from 14 schools across our region Rory and Sam were very lucky to be part of the audience of School Spectacular last Friday night. The show we watched was aired on TV on Saturday night. Over 3600 Public School students from over 400 NSW Public Schools, produced a magic performance for the boys to be able to watch live. It is truly amazing the standard and expertise this performance showcases and it is a fantastic experience for our students. Writing Program Next Tuesday is the final day for our writing program taught by Mrs Brockie. It has once again been a great initiative and the students have gained much from this intensive program. Year 6 Parents' Transition Session - Tonight 4th December A flyer was sent home with our Year 6 students inviting students, parents and carers of Year 6 students attending high school in 2014, to attend a Transition to High School Session. The session will be presented by Catherine McNamara and Jodi Browne at Finley High School tonight from 6.30pm until 7.30pm. Speech Therapy Program Yesterday was the final day for Stephanie Whyte, our speech therapist to work with our students. This program has been an excellent chance for some of our families and students to work with Stephanie. The program sponsored by our Low SES funding has been very beneficial for our students and we thank Stephanie for her expertise and support. Busy, Busy Timetable As you can see the next couple of weeks are going to be very busy. Please make sure you read the Important Dates on the front of this newsletter so you don’t miss anything.
Thank You Morning Tea As is the tradition of our school we invite all our 2013 'helpers' to school for morning tea on Tuesday, 10th December. These people are very valued members of our school community; providing support not only to our students but also to the staff, giving that extra pair of hands, eyes and ears. As a school we always know we can call on our school community to provide us with help and support and this morning tea is just a small way we can recognise and thank you for that support. Monologue Performance For a second year our Year 5/6 students have been working with Mrs Dickie on presenting a monologue. A monologue is an extended dramatic speech performed by one person. The students will perform their monologues on Tuesday, before and after our special morning tea. Parents and friends are invited to come and see these presentations as well as join us for morning tea. Presentation Night Next Wednesday, 11th December, is our annual presentation night. This is the night we celebrate the achievements of the students and school in 2013. The night begins at 7.00pm and is held in the school hall. All students from Kindergarten to Year 6 are recognised and though not every student receives an award it is a wonderful night to celebrate the achievements of 2013. It is also a time we farewell our Year 6 students and announce our 2014 student leaders. Each family is asked to bring a plate of food to share for supper and a fold up chair is also a good option, there will be limited seating in the hall. We hope to see all family and friends on the night acknowledging and celebrating our great students and school. Gayle Andriske Principal

Not long till Christmas, (where has the year gone), the P&C are busy organising the Christmas raffle. For families new to the school, this raffle has a prize from each class room and is drawn at Presentation Night. Each class chooses a theme for their class hamper and the P & C asks parents if they could please make a donation to the hamper in line with the theme chosen. In previous years we have had some wonderful prizes and some very lucky winners. The themes chosen by the classes this year are colours...they DO NOT have to be relevant to Christmas. Kinder/Year 1 – Green…anything that is green in colour Year 1/Year 2 – Black…anything that is black in colour Year 3/Year 4 – White…anything that is white in colour Year 5/Year 6 – Red…anything that is red in colour Once the hampers are put together the class voted with the best hamper by the lovely office ladies will win a pancake morning tea to share from the P&C.
