Know The Signs! Physical Abuse
• Does the child have bruises in shapes of belts, electric cords, etc?
• Different colored bruises in the same area?
• Cigarette burns?• Ankles, wrists, or torso
have rope burns?
Know The Signs! Emotional Abuse
• Does it seem like the child suffers from depression?
• Is he/she hostile or aggressive?
• Does the child usually overreact to situations?
• Is he/she apathetic?
It's important to talk about it. You raise awareness. But you can also prevent it (child abuse) by not letting it be a secret.

TAKE A FEW STEPS BEFORE HURTING A CHILD!• Count to 10, multiple times
if need be.• Put yourself in the babies
shoes.• Press your lips together for
20 seconds• Call a friend to talk.• Take a walk.• Hot bath sound nice?
• Turn on music and sing along.
• Find a babysitter for a while, and take a nice long nap.
• Put the child in time out.• Or maybe put yourself in
time out, you may be acting irrational.
Know the Facts
• Family members or acquaintances commit most
child murders. Most young children are killed by

• In 1991, 96% of female rape victims younger
than 12 years old, knew their attackers. 20%
were victimized by their fathers or stepfathers.
