• Purpose: – Provides for goods and services required for each Midshipman Candidate

(M/C) such as textbooks and NAPS physical training gear.

– Provides opportunities for structured extra-curricular involvement such as the

New York City trip, Army Navy Game and the Graduation Ball.

• Amount: – $2,000 per M/C

– Paid through 8 monthly payroll deductions

– Scholarship awards may be applied

• Checks must be received from the awarding organization and made out to

“NAPS BAF”

– Unspent funds will be applied towards USNA fees during the fall of Plebe year

Battalion Activity Fund (BAF)

• Goals: – Provide mentorship and role modeling.– Promote growth and an understanding of the Navy’s

core values.

• Sponsors: – Senior military or affiliated civilians with extensive DoD

backgrounds.– Naval War College, surface warfare, aviators,

submariners, JAGs, combat arms, etc.

• Nomination(s)– NAPSters receive Secretary of the Navy nomination by

virtue of their enlistment to attend NAPS.– To meet Title 10 USC mandates, we require, however,

every NAPSTER seek a nomination from Congressional sources. Congressman/congresswoman Senators Vice President (online form)

– Other sources – Presidential, etc.– It’s a win scenario with many congressional offices.– Not all will be successful – that is OK.

• Medical– A new medical evaluation is not required –

DODMERB examination is good for 2 years.– Must maintain good health.– A waiver may be required if medical status at

NAPS changes.

NAPS staff– “Whole Person” concept
