Contrast

A picture with too much

or too little contrast can

be remedied by

changing the contrast

grade.

Adding magenta will

increase the contrast,

increasing the yellow

will decrease the

contrast.

Low Contrast

High Contrast

Dodging and Burning

• If your print has sections that are either brighter or

darker than you wish, you can burn or dodge them.

• Burning is where you cover all but the lighter part of

the photograph and allow more light onto that part of

the print.

• Dodging is the opposite, this is where you cover only

a dark part on the print allowing less light to hit this

part of the print and making it lighter.
