This type of group work

was good for access to technology

worked well on a rotational basis

but was more about students each doing the same thing rather than working together.

did not take into account the social context the students were working in

didn’t plan for interactions between students

How I’d do it now…

This type of group work

is also good for access to technology

could be more geared to students working together to produce a team result/product etc

would require that interactions between students are planned for

could encourage more self-teaching (watch Sugata Mitra’s TED video)

How do we plan for interactions between

students?

•What might they say to each other?•What roles does each student have within the group? •How will they need to help each other?•What language items should they be encouraged to use when communicating with each other?
